Yes he's still young he can comebackI sort of liked his bowling action. Bashed BD at home in debut test and had a 7 wicket in a match in INDIA iirc. Hope he makes it in the team when he's available.

I am not sure Nishan Peiris is useful. He's good on low slow Sri Lankan filth. Chamindu Wickramasinghe should have got the nod over him. We are only going to play Jayasuriya. Mendis and DDS are more than handy spinners. I am skeptical even Jayasuriya would be needed. All seam attack may be the option.Sri Lanka squad for Test series in South Africa

Batting is solid and only place even under question is that of Kusal Mendis'. So taking many batsmen won't give them much opportunities.
The batting sort of picks itself at the moment and I doubt we will experiment too much if at all. My feeling is a better mix of backup bowlers might have been useful just in case and I think there are one or two better options who could have come in.Sri Lanka squad for Test series in South Africa

Could you expand on what you mean by a better mix of backup bowlers? Who are you thinking? The batting sort of picks itself at the moment and I doubt we will experiment too much if at all. I will be over the moon if we end up with 1-1. Saffers are going to serve some filthy green seamers like they did against India. It will be SAF bowlers against our batsmen. We have claims to be one of the best batting units in tests.Do you think we can win the series ?
Good thing is that the venues are in Durban and PE which have recently been spin friendly according to reports and are the same venues where we we won the series vs SA back in 2019 , we have to try and win the series to get to WTC finalI will be over the moon if we end up with 1-1. Mostly I'm thinking of guys like Dilshan Madushanka and Eshan Malinga. Basically a few pace bowlers with promise who can come in if Lahiru Kumara or someone gets injured and take their chance in conditions that I think would help them.Could you expand on what you mean by a better mix of backup bowlers? Who are you thinking?
Yes legend knows best, Sanath Jayasuriya never took a backward step to nobody during his career and it seems to be rubbing off on the teamSanath Jayasuriya: 'If I don't respond when a player approaches me, I'm not doing the right thing'
The Sri Lanka coach talks about his tenure with the team and the mixed bag of results so farwww.espncricinfo.com
He is so passionate. No wonder SL are doing well across formats. And so much of behind the scenes work to get where they are today too. Great to read and great to see.
@Silver Silva @Himannv you guys must be proud.
