I'm sorry, but this is such a poor balance of side. Ever since Petersen got smashed they've just been bowling part timers. Surprised they haven't lost yet.

You're not really sorry.

I've just noticed Jehan Mubarak has just had an international revival. What on earth brought that on?
domestic form apparently, never mind that Angelo and Kushal Perera are in need of game time and Mubarak is clearly ****

You can never tell through Cricinfo, but 250 is probably going to be enough, provided Sanga doesn't go mad again, SA doing very well here I'd say.

Well it's all gone to **** anyway, 240 would still win the match IMO, but they have a battle on their hands to make 220 at this stage

Did we have any Perera in the Srilankan side before Thissara? There is a sudden glut of Pereras now..4 in the current side..

There was Suresh Perera before, he played a couple of tests most notable being the Oval test in 98. Made a valuable 40ish IIRC.

The Sri Lankan team looks much better without Tharanga and Mubarak, I hope Tharanga never plays for Sri Lanka again, he won't succeed in the 2015 WC, so why keep giving him chances?

Whom do you think will do better in 2015 WC than him from the current SL benchers?

Angelo Mathews hinted he would come higher in the order in today's game. Interesting if he comes above Chandimal or Thirumanne?

Well every time I see Tharanga play in Aus he fails miserably, so anyone really. Both Karunaratne and Kushal Perera showed promise in Australia on the other hand,

I've a feeling Kushal Perara is no good as an opener at International level. He gets out to an average new ball most often (Just like how he got out today). He would have to improve a lot if he wants to open for SL in future.

One thing good about Upul Tharanga is that, when he gets going.. he gets big innings and builds long partnerships (which is what that lacks in the present crop of SL batsman). Look at the below list of good innings that Tharanga played in Oceania region: He has played 23 inngs in Aus/NZ region with an average of 26.95 (even Jayawardena's average in Oceania is just 29.85 )

103 vs NZ Christchurch 3 Jan 2006
68 vs NZ Napier 28 Dec 2006
86* vs Australia Sydney 5 Nov 2010
60 vs Australia Brisbane 4 Mar 2012
71 vs Australia Adelaide 8 Mar 2012

Sorry, but I can't accept a guy who is so inconsistent as an opener, you're right about Kushal, but there are other options, meanwhile, Thirimanne doing nicely, he is going to be so important to Sri Lanka whenever they play outside the sub-continent. As for other openers, Mahela could partner with Dilshan again for the WC.

yes. Thirimanne might be handy option, but not sure how good he is as an opener at the domestic level? Did he open at domestic level?

BTW, How old these guys (Mahela, Sanga and Dilshan) would be by the time they play #cwc15 ?

Thirimanne is an overrated ODI batsman tbh, I don't knw why people see him as the future of SL ODI team, hasn't been so impressive even in the domestic arena when it comes to limited overs cricket. Good test prospect, but doesn't have that impact to become a top order ODI batsman.
