Cut about that loss guys.We can only look forward to the finals, where we can only hope to 'click', and get them done in 2 games, without having to worry about a 3rd.

While I'm not doing overly well, I'm enjoying opening in the ODI's atm. Really enjoying opening with Bugs and I think that partnership proved that it seems a partnership which could surge forward.

On a team not, utterly disappointing. The bowlers did fairly well but our batting just collapsed, need one person to go on and get 75+ each game. Best of luck for next game Webbers!

Dave misses out, but that means he'll get to play some Reds cricket on the weekend. Squad cut to 13 because having 2 extra seam options or 2 extra batting options would be unnecessary for a 2-, possibly 3-game series.

MS Atapattu 27 (30b 1X4 2X6)
c. Chaulk b. Mxyzptlk
That's a big breathrough! A ball on offstump that Atapattu looked to runto 3rd man and got the thinnest of touches - 69/1
---
14.4 Pickup to Jayasuriya, OUT, Rich_2001 takes an easy catch to dismiss ST Jayasuriya

ST Jayasuriya 39 (51b 4X4)
c. Rich_2001 b. Pickup
That's a very soft dismissal there. Just driving rather loosely at that flighted legbreak and got an outside edge to the lone slip. Great captaincy to have a slip in at this stage! - 87/2
---
15.4 Mxyzptlk to Sangakkara, OUT, David(Jr.) takes an easy catch to dismiss KC Sangakkara

KC Sangakkara 12 (14b 1X4)
c. David(Jr.) b. Mxyzptlk
Short ball that skidded onto Sangakkara and his attempt to pull just sent the ball high to deep midwicket where David Jr. held it nicely.
---
16.1 Pickup to Jayaw'dene, FOUR, Swept away!
16.2 Pickup to Jayaw'dene, one run, Swept again and an easy single
16.3 Pickup to Jayantha, FOUR, Wide and driven square beautifully! Another boundary!

19.3 Mxyzptlk to Jayantha, two runs, Took the first one quickly the second was no problem
19.4 Mxyzptlk to Jayantha, three runs, Excellent running 3 more
---
27.1 Bugssy to Jayaw'dene, OUT, What a brilliant catch by Mr Mxyzptlk at square leg

DPMdS Jayawardene 38 (36b 3X4 1X6)
c. Mxyzptlk b. Bugssy
The ball was flicked low and off the middle of the bat and that was a great low one-handed catch. Breakthrough!
---
27.4 Bugssy to Jayantha, OUT, Good catch by Blewy at cover

WS Jayantha 31 (38b 3X4)
c. Blewy b. Bugssy
Again! This young man is having a great series! Another HUGE wicket and the CW XI is right back in this thing!
---
37.4 Bugssy to Chandana, SIX, Display of Raw power and brutality by UDU Chandana
He got under that one nicely and just cleared the midwicket ropes
---
39.1 Bugssy to Dilshan, OUT, That didnt look so convincing but the umpire has no doubt, out LBW

TM Dilshan 19 (45b)
lbw b. Bugssy
The ball would've JUST clipped legstump. Close call, but correct in the end.
---
41.6 Broadbent to Chandana, OUT, Bowled him! Great delivery by Broadbent. Chandana didnt have a clue

UDU Chandana 29 (33b 2X4 1X6)
b. Broadbent
---
42.5 Pickup to Vaas, OUT, That ball caught the edge and struck the stumps. Vaas cant belive it

WPUJC Vaas 9 (14b)

MF Maharoof 2 (6b)
b. Mxyzptlk
---
45.1 Broadbent to Lokua'hchi, OUT, Bowled him! Great delivery by Broadbent. Lokua'hchi played down the wrong line of that legcutter and lost his offstump

KS Lokuarachchi 1 (3b)
b. Broadbent
Sri Lanka 230 all out. Good bowling comeback from the Webheads, but overall they'd be disappointed with squandering the great seaming conditions.

---
*CW XI innings*

0.4 Maharoof to Cloete, FOUR, That was a bad delivery by MF Maharoof, deserving this punishment
---
1.3 Vaas to Bugssy, OUT, DPMdS Jayawardene takes an easy catch to dismiss Bugssy

Bugssy 2 (3b)
c. Jayaw'dene b. Vaas
That's what Vaas does. Pitched on middle stump and seaming across the right-hander, it took the edge for a simple 3rd slip catch - 8/1
---
2.2 Maharoof to Rich_2001, OUT, What a brilliant catch by ST Jayasuriya

Rich_2001 1 (4b)
c. Jayasuriya b. Maharoof
Gone! Another one for Sri Lanka. Rich_2001 went hard at that full length ball, but didn't move his feet and Jayasuriya took a great low catch at 2nd slip
---
4.2 Maharoof to Blewy, FOUR, Driven dead straight. Lovely shot
---
9.5 Lokua'hchi to Blewy, OUT, Thats plumb in front of the wicket

Blewy 15 (28b 1X4)
lbw b. Lokua'hchi
Very bold decision to bring on the leggie so early, but he gets Blewy with a gem of a topspinner. That's the big fish and the Webheads are in trouble now - 33/3
---
11.1 Vaas to Eclipse, OUT, Good catch by ST Jayasuriya

Eclipse 1 (3b)
c. Jayasuriya b. Vaas
Similar dismissal to Rich's except that this time it was a left-handed batsman against a left-armer and Jayasuriya's catch was close to regulation. Sri Lanka on fire!
---
15.1 Lokua'hchi to Marc71178, SIX, Danced down the pitch and lofted that over longoff. Wonderful shot!
---
17.6 Lokua'hchi to Cloete, OUT, Thick edge well taken by Sangakkara

Cloete 27 (53b 2X4)
c. Sangakkara b. Lokua'hchi
That wasn't quite there for the cut and Sri Lanka are ectstatic now! They know they're right on top with Cloete back into the pavilion and young Ash Chaulk must play another big innings for his team. It's 74/5...
---
20.4 Vaas to Chaulk, OUT, ST Jayasuriya takes an easy catch to dismiss Ash Chaulk

Ash Chaulk 5 (8b)
c. Jayasuriya b. Vaas
No heroics from Chaulk today! Vaas bowling in his 3rd sharp spell and that was just the perfect outswinger to the right-hander and he edged comfortably to 2nd slip. Jayasuriya took his 3rd catch there and the CW XI are further up against it.
---
27.2 Chandana to Marc71178, OUT, Good running catch

Marc71178 29 (50b 1X4 1X6)
c. Maharoof b. Chandana
Marc realized that he had to do something to release the pressure of 12 runs from the last 6 overs. Unfortunately he didn't get ahold of that slog sweep and Maharoof ran around nicely at deep midwicket to take the 7th wicket - 99/7
27.3 Chandana to David(Jr.), one run, Dropped! Jayasuriya made a big mess of that simple chance
That would have all but sealed the deal there! Jayasuriya set down the easiest of chances at his left at midoff. David Jr. survives...
---
28.5 Zoysa to David(Jr.), OUT, Thick edge well taken by Sangakkara

David(Jr.) 4 (3b)
c. Sangakkara b. Zoysa
Well he was dropped first up, but he doesn't benefit much from it, slashing at that rising delivery from Zoysa and just nicking to Sangakkara. Poor shot, but not much more can be expected at this stage - 109/8...
---
34.3 Zoysa to Broadbent, OUT, Bowled legstump!

Chris Broadbent 10 (20b)
b. Zoysa
He just walked too far across his crease there and the bit of inswing from Zoysa gives him a classicly set up dismissal. It's almost over now! 9 down...
---
36.5 Maharoof to Mxyzptlk, OUT, What a brilliant catch by UDU Chandana

Mr Mxyzptlk 21 (48b)
c. Chandana b. Maharoof
Mr Mxyzptlk is waiting there. He can't believe that Chandana has taken that catch. The 3rd umpire reviewing the replays... that held just centimetres off the turf there. Wonderful dive to his left at backward point and Chandana has ended this game in style. It's 1-0 Sri Lanka!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Daily Blast Comment: Winning the toss and bowling first in bowling conditions, the CW players didn't get the job done as efficiently as they would have like and the batsmen felt the pressure chasing. In his most fluent of form, Vaas removed 3 key wickets and was well-supported by the other Sri Lankan bowlers and the CW XI collapsed to a record low ODI total.

A bit of a shame there guys. You seemed to lose momentum with that loss in the last round, and 200 plus always looked hard on that pitch.

*CW XI innings*

5.4 Vaas to Bugssy, no ball, FOUR, That was a bad delivery by WPUJC Vaas, deserving this punishment
First boundary of the day...
---
7.3 Maharoof to Cloete, FOUR, Brilliant cover drive by Cloete
That ball was just ever so slightly over-pitched
---
10.5 Broadbent to Atapattu, SIX, ???!!! Pitched up and hit straight and long!!!
---
13.6 Lokua'hchi to Bugssy, OUT, Thats plumb in front of the wicket

Bugssy 20 (39b 1X4)
lbw b. Lokua'hchi
Poor stroke really. He went for the premeditated sweep, missed and was gone for the world.
---
15.1 Vaas to Cloete, FOUR, WPUJC Vaas cant belive it - that flew past 2nd slips right hand
15.2 Vaas to Cloete, one run, That is very well run by Rich_2001
15.3 Vaas to Rich_2001, FOUR, Rich_2001 just leaned onto the back foot and pushed the ball elegently through the covers. Sublime!
---
16.4 Jayasuriya to Cloete, FOUR, Chipped down the track and drove that past midon for a lovely boundary
16.5 Jayasuriya to Cloete, one run, One more to the total
16.6 Jayasuriya to Rich_2001, FOUR, Short and cracked away!
---
17.3 Chandana to Rich_2001, one run, Dropped! Lokua'hchi made a big mess of that simple chance at square leg. Poor shot by Rich. He tried to work that one against the spin and it popped up to the square leg fielder who set it down unbelievably.
17.4 Chandana to Cloete, two runs, Took the first one quickly the second was no problem
That's a great knock under pressure. Cloete goes to 50!
---
18.3 Zoysa to Cloete, FOUR, Pitched up and driven dead straight. Great shot!
---
19.4 Maharoof to Rich_2001, SIX, ???!!! Its coming towards the commentary box Im leaving!!!
That was amazing! He just planted his front foot and swatted the ball over long on!
---
21.4 Lokua'hchi to Rich_2001, OUT, MS Atapattu takes an easy catch to dismiss Rich_2001

Rich_2001 30 (25b 2X4 1X6)
c. Atapattu b. Lokua'hchi
That's as elementary as they come. Tossed up, driven, caught at short cover. Not the first time we've seen a dismissal like that in this series...
21.5 Lokua'hchi to Blewy, one run, Great cooperation between Blewy and Cloete
21.6 Lokua'hchi to Cloete, SIX, ???!!! Nice quick footwork and BANG!

The ball is lost and they're bringing out a new batch now. We'll see how this affects the game. At a time like this Sri Lanka can creep back in and a slightly harder ball could help there cause because there's still some seam about.
---
22.6 Maharoof to Cloete, OUT, That ball caught the edge and struck the stumps. Cloete cant belive it

Cloete 68 (71b 6X4 1X6)
b. Maharoof
He attempted to force that off the back foot but didn't move his feet and get's castled!
---
23.4 Vaas to Marc71178, OUT, Thats plumb in front of the wicket, out for a duck

Marc71178 0 (2b)
lbw b. Vaas
Oh dear! That was poor! Left alone and it straightened significantly and Marc71178 had no chance. That's a big wicket - 134/4...
---
24.3 Jayasuriya to Blewy, FOUR, That was a bad delivery by ST Jayasuriya, deserving this punishment
---
25.6 Lokua'hchi to Blewy, OUT, Big appeal behind the stumps, umpire gives Blewy the finger

Blewy 8 (15b 1X4)
c. Sangakkara b. Lokua'hchi
That ball was far too close to cut and the captain has paid the ultimate price. They don't get any big than this man and now the CW XI are in some real trouble... it's 142/5...
---
26.1 Dilshan to Eclipse, FOUR, Swept hard and square, good shot
---
28.5 Vaas to Chaulk, FOUR, Flicked very fine and Zoysa couldn't cut it off
---
29.3 Chandana to Eclipse, OUT, Brilliantly stumped by KC Sangakkara

Eclipse 12 (23b 1X4)
st Sangakkara b. Chandana
Smart bowling by Chandana there. Saw him coming and fired it a bit shorter... Eclipse couldn't adjust.
Darkness is at the crease now. He's in the team to strengthen the batting and he definitely has his work cut out for him now...
29.4 Chandana to Darkness, no ball, no run, Defended back to the bowler
29.4 Chandana to Darkness, no run, Appeal for LBW, a bit too optimistic though
29.5 Chandana to Darkness, OUT, Thick edge well taken by Sangakkara, out for a duck

Lord of Darkness 0 (2b)
c. Sangakkara b. Chandana
Short wide and Lord will be kicking himself for getting out to that. That's horrible cricket allround, except for Sangakkara's fine catch.
---
35.3 Lokua'hchi to Chaulk, SIX, ???!!! Its coming towards the commentary box Im leaving!!!
That'll take some pressure off!
35.4 Lokua'hchi to Chaulk, no run, Huge appeal for LBW but turned down
35.5 Lokua'hchi to Chaulk, wide, KS Lokuarachchi bowling a very wayward one

KS Lokuarachchi takes an easy catch to dismiss Ash Chaulk

Ash Chaulk 21 (24b 1X4 1X6)
c & b. Lokua'hchi
Such a soft dismissal in the end. He went into the drive but the ball wasn't full enough and it just lobbed back to the bowler. It's a struggling 185/8 now...
---
43.6 Zoysa to Mxyzptlk, OUT, That didnt look so convincing but the umpire has no doubt, out LBW

Mr Mxyzptlk 12 (51b)
lbw b. Zoysa
It seems to have pitched a couple of inches outside legstump. Horrible decision. Geoff Boycott's mum could have done better!
---
47.5 Vaas to Pickup, FOUR, That was a glorious cover drive by Pickup! Vaas is utterly bemused and Pickup has been holding the pose for the last 30 seconds...
---
49.3 Vaas to David(Jr.), OUT, Bowled him! Great delivery by Vaas. David(Jr.) didnt have a clue

David(Jr.) 25 (36b)
b. Vaas
Done. All over. The CW XI will be a bit disappointed with this. David Jr. and Neil Pickup did a fine job to take the total past 230, but after the start the XI got, 233 is somewhat less than they would have liked. Still, it'll be difficult to chase on this track.
---
*SRI LANKA innings*

1.3 David(Jr.) to Atapattu, OUT, Thats plumb in front of the wicket, Quack Quack!

MS Atapattu 0 (1b)
lbw b. David(Jr.)
A bit of inseam there and Atapattu beaten for pace. 92mph that one. Good bowling and a big wicket.
---
5.3 David(Jr.) to Jayasuriya, FOUR, David(Jr.) cant belive it - inside egde past legstump and away
---
7.6 David(Jr.) to Sangakkara, FOUR, David(Jr.) cant belive it - AGAIN! Another inside edge and the same result. What are the odds?!?
---
9.4 David(Jr.) to Jayasuriya, FOUR, David(Jr.) distraught! He found the outside edge that time and it flew over 2nd slip for another boundary
---
10.3 Mxyzptlk to Jayasuriya, SIX, Display of Raw power and brutality by ST Jayasuriya
He picked the slower one and swatted it over the longoff ropes. Tremendous blow!
---
11.2 Pickup to Jayasuriya, FOUR, That was a bad delivery by Neil Pickup, deserving this punishment. Full toss swatted past the diving backward point and away for a boundary.
---
15.4 Pickup to Sangakkara, FOUR, Well-timed ondrive
---
17.2 Pickup to Jayasuriya, FOUR, Cut for FOUR! Bad bowling by Pickup and Jayasuriya goes to a very well compiled half-century - 71 balls, 4 fours and a six. Still some work to be done though, 142 more needed...
17.3 Pickup to Jayasuriya, no run, That ball was a mystery to the batsman
17.4 Pickup to Jayasuriya, wide, Neil Pickup bowling a very wayward one
17.4 Pickup to Jayasuriya, no run, Appeal for LBW, a bit too optimistic though
17.5 Pickup to Jayasuriya, wide, Thats going down the leg side, a wide no doubt
17.5 Pickup to Jayasuriya, FOUR, Full toss and smacked past Bugssy again. Lovely shot, but poor ball.
17.6 Pickup to Jayasuriya, no run, Defensively played by ST Jayasuriya
---
22.5 Bugssy to Sangakkara, OUT, Thats plumb in front of the wicket

KC Sangakkara 34 (57b 4X4)
lbw b. Bugssy
Slower one and Sangakkara totally misjudged it. Bugssy strikes again! He's having a wonderful bowling series!
---
23.2 Darkness to Jayasuriya, FOUR, Lofted back overhead for a boundary. Great batting.
---
26.6 Bugssy to Jayasuriya, FOUR, That was a bad delivery by Bugssy, deserving this punishment
---
27.1 Darkness to Jayaw'dene, OUT, Chopped on! Jaywardene in disbelief leaning over on his bat...
DPMdS Jayawardene 3 (9b)
b. Darkness
Darkness didn't do his job with the bat, but he's made something happen with the ball!

27.2 Darkness to Jayantha, OUT, Thick edge well taken by Chaulk, Quack Quack!

WS Jayantha 0 (1b)
c. Chaulk b. Darkness
Another one! Length and outside offstump, that one drew the batsman forward in defence but went straight on. Darkness on a hat-trick now!
27.3 Darkness to Dilshan, one run, Great cooperation between TM Dilshan and ST Jayasuriya
Hat-trick avoided...
---
34.4 Mxyzptlk to Jayasuriya, OUT, Lord of Darkness takes an easy catch to dismiss ST Jayasuriya

ST Jayasuriya 94 (132b 8X4 1X6)
c. Darkness b. Mxyzptlk
They tied him down for the better part of 10 overs and their plan comes good! Jayasuriya really got himself out with frustration there. That was short and a brisk 85mph, but he never got in position to pull. The simplest of dismissals in the end.
34.5 Mxyzptlk to Chandana, no run, Left alone by UDU Chandana
34.6 Mxyzptlk to Chandana, FOUR, Pulled away!
---
35.1 Pickup to Dilshan, one run, Great cooperation between TM Dilshan and UDU Chandana

---
39.1 Pickup to Dilshan, FOUR, Well-placed ondrive. Top shot!
---
41.5 Bugssy to Chandana, OUT, Thats out by a long way!!! Great throw from Lord of Darkness

UDU Chandana 21 (22b 2X4)
run out (Darkness)
That could be the turning point! Darkness has really made a mark on this game and the XI are not out of it yet... 33 needed from 49...

Blewy has to go off the field with a cramp and now it's Pickup who takes over.

He's having a long conference with Mr Mxyzptlk here as they try to figure who will take up the bowling. The common sense would say that Pickup himself have a go, but he seems a bit out of sorts today and... wait... he's called up Cloete! Cloete will bowl the critical 47th over. Well this is certainly a very interesting, some may say ridiculous, move. We'll see how it plays out...
46.1 Cloete to Dilshan, no run, Hit hard but back to the bolwer
46.2 Cloete to Dilshan, legbye, Cloete is getting the ball to turn ferociously
46.3 Cloete to Vaas, no run, The umpire turns down that ridiculous appeal from Ash Chaulk
46.4 Cloete to Vaas, legbye, Missed a big sweep, but scampers a single
46.5 Cloete to Dilshan, no run, Driven straight to short cover. Well fielded
46.6 Cloete to Dilshan, one run, The misfield by Mxyzptlk allows yet another run

Great over in any circumstance, but especially this one. Pickup made to look like a genius and he takes the time to walk over and pat Cloete on the back. Good job. The equation now 18 off 18...
End of over 47 (3 runs)

47.4 Marc71178 to Dilshan, no run, Hit hard and brilliantly fielded by Bugssy at backward point! No run! Wonderful clutch stuff!
47.5 Marc71178 to Dilshan, no run, TM Dilshan was completely deceived by that legcutter
47.6 Marc71178 to Dilshan, no run, Hit hard but straight back at the bowler! Dot ball!

Once again a long conference and it looks like Pickup will back out again and send Cloete to the bowling crease instead of himself. They're still discussing it though. The umpires are motioning to break it up and now they're finally moving back into positions...

Daily Blast Comment: One of the finest ODI games contested by the CW XI. The batsmen didn't quite capitalize on an instinct decision to bat first, but the bowlers came to the party at the very end. The slower bowlers really produced some fine stuff to make a game of it after Sri Lanka cruised through the first half of the chase. Bugssy, Darkness, Marc and Cloete played big hands and now the CW XI prepare to take a shot at victory in the 3rd final, having fought off defeat here today.
