South Africa team selection

International Debutant
It's looking more and more like we need to go with Bosch over Ngidi or Shamsi. When in form they're better bowlers than him, but neither is at the moment, and they can't bat either.

Silver Silva

International Vice-Captain
We've lost our last 6 ODI games in a row, Confidence is probably low in the camp.

In fact since the start of 2024 we've lost 8 out of 11.
But you've had success in tournaments reaching the semi finals of last of odi world cup and T20 WC final , so coach is doing good with his full strength team 👏

Most of the losses are by a second string side with the first XI guys either out due to injury or league. The CT team looks quite strong and good to reach at least the semis.

I don't believe in excuses for consistently bad performances in white ball cricket, the red ball team has also had to deal with injuries and inexperienced players but their performances have been far better.

Only one team can win a tournament and it's mostly been Australia. Doesn't mean all the other cricketing nations are failures. Reaching the knockouts consistently is a decent feat.
If you playing consistent cricket like an India or NZ and come up short in a tournament that's understandable, if you are getting whitewashed at home to Pakistan, dropping games to Ireland, West Indies etc and still coming up short in tournaments then that's a problem

He shouldn't be in the first team. In many ways I would have preferred Maphaka to give him the experience even if he wasn't better.
Wouldn't have been against it but I also think this tournament is so important for drawing a line on which path we are going on with 2 years before the CWC.

If guys like Ngidi and Shamsi don't shape up they must shift out. The batting is also interesting because all of a sudden we have got options.

Bavuma/de Zorzi
Rickelton/Pretorius
Vd Dussen/Breetzke
Markram/Stubbs
Klaasen/Verreynne
Miller/Brevis

Wouldn't mind another option outside Ferreira putting their hand up for the 5/6 role.

I think only one of those 3 will play.

1.temba
2.ricks
3.rassie
4.aiden
5.klaassen
6.miller
7.mulder
8.jansen
9.keshav
10.kg
11.ngidi/Shamsi/Bosch (pick your poison as none are convincing currently).

On the look out for a versatile 5/6 who can build an innings if we in trouble but can play powerful or nifty cameos as well in these 2 years before the CWC. My favourites are Keagan Lion-Cachet, Dewan Marais, Romashan Pillay, Oli Whitehead & Connor Esterhuizen.

Rindel bowled wobbly left-arm seam up. But wasn't quick, could almost be "Slow left arm" ha ha.
I just vaguely remembered he ran in off a short run up lol

He gets a wicket too but also bowls a ball of absolute filth in this tournament package.

Keagan Lion-Cachet

Needs to find a home where he can play. Looked like he could bat 3/4 in a FC game but had nifty ability for a cameo.

Interesting, rather underwhelming numbers for De Villiers and Amla two of our best ever

5.David Miller
6.Hansie Cronje (C)
