Missed this last night and filthy I did. Saw some highlights - what a result for us. McKay a revelation this tourney tbh.

Been out and so not able to follow the game - only saw the score. Had to read it several times TBH.

****ing spectacular. Need to find somewhere I can watch the game on the weekend, not sure where or how though.

Wow, still can't believe it. Are we back in Oceania?

How have Japan looked in the tournament so far?

Two of the best three, certainly. Could throw a blanket over the finalists & South Korea IMHO.
I don't remember India scoring against Japan.

Reckon Japan performed a bit better in the group stage, obvs nothing between them in the semi.

Just saw the highlights on the tube. Uzbekistan looked shocking. Genuinely amazed that they made it that far if they're capable of defending like that. I haven't seen defending like Oganovskis goal since playing under 9s. Kruze's goal was just lulz. An international keeper trying to grab the ball with his hands before getting his body behind it

TBF, if you cant stop a shot like that with your hands alone, then you already have a few problems aside from body positioning

Yeah, it was absolutely dire keeping in both technique and execution. Really amazing to see it happen at that level.

Thinking of stating that my great grandfather may have been part Uzbek. Wouldn't mind a game at the asian cup tbh.

Heh, cannot believe Muscat is simply trying to pass the tackle off as "grossly mistimed". Seriously!? The lowest point of contact in the "tackle" was knee height ffs.

Having never seen the tackle that ended Matty Holmes' career in 04, I'm going to assume it was every bit as bad as that? Zhara's just lucky he's only out for a season really.

Hopefully we've seen the last of Muscat in the A-League though. 8 week ban, and I doubt he'll play on next season.

Can anyone tell me how long Australia have played in the Asia Cup, and also how they've gone in previous years?

Thanks :)

This is only our second appearance. First appearance in 2007 was poor. Scraped through the first round and went out in the Quarters to Japan on penalties.

Would be fantastic if we could pull a win from somewhere. Cahill the key, McKay the dark horse, Carney the worry.

Been a good start to the game from both teams, each creating a few half chances but nothing of real note yet. Cahill's looking good in the air though, won a couple dangerous headers now. Oh, and for all Holmans good work in attack, is really letting himself down a bit by giving away easy ball, especially when a couple of them are in dangerous areas.
