The restrictions I have thought of is specialist batsmen should be chosen to bat as specialist and specialist bowlers can only bowl.

A poor specialist batsman (some one with a poor average) maybe chosen top of the order.

A wicket keeper is not a specialist batsman and some one cannot thus chose 11 specialist batsmen.

5 tests is the minimum requirement right now.

Other ideas welcome. Should the minimum matches be 5 or lets say 20?. Should Bangladesh and Zimbabwe be excluded?

Should the era be post 1980 so that we know most of the players who are playing (no offence meant to SJS, LE ;) )?

Basically I want views of people on 3 criterias:

1. Minimum number of tests a player should have played
2. Should countries (like Bangladesh and Zimbabwe) be excluded)
3. Post which year players are to be taken. Like from the begininng, post 1970, post 1980 etc.

There shouldnt be consfusion regarding the make up of the squad as you have to chose 5 specialist batsmen, a keeper, 4 specialist bowlers and an allrounder/a bowler/a batsman who bowled as a 5th bowler fairly regularly.

Give in inputs fast please so that we can start off quickly. :D

Okay with no additional inputs the criterias remain simple.

The players should have played 5 test matches.

Your team should include

5 specialist batsmen (including 2 openers)
1 keeper
4 specialist bowlers
1 additional bowler, all rounder or batsman who bowls as the 5th bowler.

Players included by other users cannot be repeated. Submit your teams like Jamee has done. Hopefully it will be the worst team.

Chaminda's South African No Hopers

I always believed that the first teams South African, Kiwi and Sri Lanka were all as bad as the current Bangla and Zimbabwe sides. So here a chance to prove it, here a team made up of mainly players from the 1900 to 1960 that represented South Africa. With Eksteen one of the worst players to play Test cricket recently captained the side. Good luck boys, hope you lose every game. :D

Inclusion in this team is extremely harsh on Mills, but his test average is dreadful. The same goes for John Rennie who was better than his stats suggest, and for Roy Scott, who I found by trawling cricinfo NZ when I couldn't think of an 11th player. Actually, it's extremely harsh on everyone. I couldn't do any better than them.

No probs. till a player is not chosen by any one else you may make include that player in place of some one of your initial squad.

Slight interuption - I've just simmed the India - England series (Jones has returned to the England side, only to get injured uring the first Test). Is this a 3 Test series? Because CricInfo doesn't know yet. I've used some random but current Test grounds. Players' simming stats based on last 2 years to avoid any opinion in here. Some quite interesting results to say the least! :)

BCCI announce England tour dates

1st Test: 8-12 March, Ahmedabad
2nd Test: 16-20 March, Nagpur
3rd Test: 25-29 March, Mumbai

7 ODIs between 4 and 22 April, on every 3rd day, at Goa, Indore, Guwahati, Faridabad, Cuttack, Kochi, Vishakapatnam.
