Should eng drop Joe Root for the ashes?

I have noticed a trend in world cricket that teams do better without their best test batter.

Pakistan dropped Babar and won their first test series at home in 4 years

New Zealand played without Kane and won a away test series in India. Their greatest cricket achievement ever

Kohli left indian team down 0-1 in 2021 BGT. India won the series. Their greatest achievement in test cricket

Australia won their first series in Asia after 8 years in 2019 when they defeated Srilanka away without smith They lost 3-0 when smith played in Srilanka in 2016.

Not playing your best batsman means other batsman have no choice but to step up.

Should England get ahead of the curve and surprise the aussies by dropping Joe root?

The examples you have stated each have their own contexts.

1.Babar Azam has not hit a Test 50 in his last 18 Test innings so on form he wasn't pulling his weight, the same cannot be said of Joe Root.

2.Kane Williamson suffered injury hence he did not play vs India, Will Young did okay but he wasn't a big reason in NZ's wins to justify Williamson missing out

3.Again, Virat Kohli has been very poor since 2020, 4 of Kohli's last 5 calender years has seen him average under 30 so he is best batter on reputation only.

4.That didn't happen and is a false statement.

Now lets flip the coin and look at some examples where the opposite is true :

When AB De Villiers took early retirement did South African batting go up a level ?
Do you think South Africa would have beaten Australia without De Villiers in the Sandpaper series ?

Did West Indies batting improve when Lara retired ? Even their decision to leave out Darren Bravo recently hasn't been justified by results.

Australia lost their first test series at home to India when Steve Smith and David Warner were banned.

Sri Lanka have looked a better team since the inclusion of Kamindu Mendis .

Joe Root is England's best batter and is in great form , to drop him because of a superstition would be silly.

Excellent response to what was clearly an entirely serious thread topic

Some ok points here but I'm sticking with the OP I think.
