One's a Beast and the other is a Flat Track Phoni,

well thats my opinion at least

whats yours?

afridi isnt consistence i admit but he has no general weak area,

to dhoni you pitch it at rib height outside on off stump and he is out,

he has battered pakistan and lanka sure but other countries havent let him move,

south africa, west indies and many more to come..i cant wait to see him in england or aus

you can include england series sure but that was at home on flat tracks

hes only played on asian pitches so far and that too vs sri lanka and pakistan virtually,

hes already been found out anyway,
pitch it outisde off stump at rib height and he will just deal in singles and edges

Well it's questionable as to whether either have brains? Well Afridi always seems to leave his behind when he tours outside Asia. Both gifted, both over hyped beyond belief, but I'd probably take Afridi, no Dhoni, ahhhhh both.

Norwood's on Fire
They are both talented batsmen who have about three brain cells between them

Dhoni was so awesome in the West Indies and at home against England, he gave Shaun Udal hell…:D

He gave Monty some good catching practice as well. Did you see the difference between his first attempt and the actualy catch?!?!?!? Lovely bloke.

Evident in his awe inspiring knocks in the West Indies and at home to England...

I'll admit that Dhoni's shot in Mumbai wasn't the most intelligent but he has also played a big role in India's run chases in the ODIs where most times he showed a lot of maturity and intelligence as to when to attack or defend.
Its his technique against the moving and rising ball that worries me. If he can find a way to get around that, he should be fairly succesful in the next few years.
Afridi is very exciting to watch but he doesn't seem to think about the match situation too much....

Look at some of Dhoni's chases in ODIs recently, and compare that to Afridi's innings throughout his career.

Dhoni isn't the sharpest knife in the draw, but he can play sensible. The first innings in Mumbai he played a very sensible knock until he was run out as well.

They have exactly ONE brain cell between them, and neither of them have the class to survive in all conditions. If I had to pick one, I'd take Dhoni...but barely.

Afridi has set up plenty of run chases for Pakistan, either as an opener, or to finish (or almost finish) a chase coming lower in the order.

Afridi has been in world cricket for a while now, and has succeeded to some extent.

Dhoni is new, and it seems like a weakness may have been found.

I'd take Afridi for the reason that he is more proven than Dhoni. Afridi can be more destructive than Dhoni can as well, and Afridi's shots are better to watch imo. His shots (most of the time), look more technical than Dhoni who has some very random looking shots but i'll admit effective ones.

You liking Afridi's shots is a personal choice and Dhoni can't really do much about the fact that he hasn't played as many matches as Afridi.

What Dhoni has shown, is the ability to build an innings. Inspite of playing 200 odd matches Afridi's highest score is 109 while Dhoni has already shown that when he gets 100s, he gets big ones. Also, Dhoni has done more than finished matches for India or set them up. He has carried the chases, a la Bevan, something I haven't seen Afridi do.
I'd choose Dhoni; Afridi isn't that far better than Dhoni at handling the short or moving ball, but is more likely to throw it away when set.
