Shahid Afridi Vs MS Dhoni

Not sure what trolling means.

Genuine question.
Some might, some might not. AFAIC, I like Afridi, a lot. and I hated Dhoni when he fist came on the scene. poor wicketkeeping, poor technique. I thought Karthick was hard done by. ....but the guy has a lot of street smarts. His ability to control run chases is what really impressed me. Doesn't panic even when the RR goes high, knows when to attack, whom to attack and ofcourse is spectacular when he comes off.
Afridi is atleast as good a hitter as Dhoni but he never struck me as being a vey thinking cricketer (when batting atleast). So, Afridi's nationality has nothing to do with my choice...I would imagine the same to be true with regards to most people on here.

Are there any India who would choose Afridi? Or Pakistan fans who would choose Dhoni?
Yes, despite being a holder of a Pakistani passport I can safely say that I would have Dhoni in my team over Afridi any day.

so far we have seen dhoni only set up chases vs pakistan and lanka,
he still has to play against some of the bigger nations,

like afridi in the vb series vs australia,

now thats what i call setting up chases

Ahh I see, I didn't mean because of the history between India and Pakistan. I just mean the tendancy of people to back the player from their own country when two 'similar' batsman are pitted against one another.

For example Flintoff v Kallis as the best all rounder I may just simply say Flintoff without really thinking.

As much as I hate his antics on the cricket field, I would still prefer him over Dhoni. Afridi for me.

When it comes to ODIs id put Dhoni ahead of Afridi. When it comes to tests, they are both equally hopeless and the only reason why Dhoni will have a career in tests, despite the lack of a technique and a brain, is because of the fact that he can keep.

I've actually been pleasantly suprised with Dhoni behind the stumps. He'll be good for the fast hundreds on the easy tracks, and maybe he'll get a fifty here and there on the pitches with movement. So thats basically my expectation of him ATM.

dhoni for me...he has the potential to become a much better batsman than shahid "legend" afridi ever will be....:)

Actually Afridi has set up at least 2 test wins for Pakistan vs. India in India.

Afridi 141 in Pak 2nd inning

Quick Fire 50 @ Banglore

And his test batting isn't really bad, I would take him over Mr. Dhoni anyday.

Okay, still as you have no doubt seen, most people form their opinion not based on the nationality of the player.

Depends what type of a pitch the game is going to be played . On a flat track offcourse I will pick Dhoni and actualy I will even prefer any club cricketer of India over Afridi . But on any other pitch I will definately put Afridi ahead of Dhoni . There is nothing much to chose b/w the two of them and over all considering one is a very useful bowler and the other is a good wicket keeper too.

Both are just right for their respective teams. Dhoni, however, has the potential to play a long innings.

I think Dhoni is a better player than afridi...but both can have their days....i just think that dhoni will have afew more than afridi. Anyway, i still think that they are not players a team can rely on with confidence. Dravid for india and inzi for pakistan are the real dangermen.

Dhoni has come to the party many many times in ODIs when India have needed him. He's played many pressure knocks and done well. There was a stage in late 2005/early 2006 whenever India would be in a spot of bother in ODIs I'd see the name 'Dhoni' down the order, and feel fairly confident that India could still win.

The issue of course is whether he can do those gun pressure filled ODI knocks outside of the sub-continent, because he failed in WI, and only played one good knock in Zimbabwe against a second string NZ team. But in terms of his temperament in ODIs, I think its fine.
