Sehwag retires

I haven't paid my respect to Sewag yet. He was awesome. He played the game like no other. I love watching people do it 'their way' and Sewag fits this bill more than most. I enjoyed watching him not bother to run. I enjoyed watching him not bother to field hard. I enjoyed watching him completely disrespect bowlers. I just absolutely enjoyed watching him!

Whatever it takes!!!
Pratters, in honour of the Freedom Series, I say we agree to disagree on our standing on the boards and Ganguly/Dhoni seeing as none of them have anything to do with the test series anyways.. :p And not make any more posts on the topic. Fair to say I dont see either of us accepting the others' stand. :)

One of the best incidents was Dhoni stating in a press conference that the senior members in the team were a huge burden on the fielding. The next game Sehwag randomly takes an excellent diving catch and in the next press conference asks Dhoni to just take a look at that catch.. Always gave the impression that he could pretty much do anything he wanted to but just could not give a ****.

There was that innings vs New Zealand where he was batting on 180 off 160 balls or something and looked set for a massive double, but then just decided "meh I'm bored" and basically got himself out by playing the weirdest non shot to a dead straight dead slow delivery. Walked back to the pavilion smiling.

Haha yeah I've brought that up so many times, he had a runner in GG at the time and he literally was chuckling to himself while talking to GG as he walked back, I swear there was a video on that but it seems I can barely find any of Sehwag's centuries =(

Here's the cricinfo commentary for what it's worth, and also outlines why Sehwag should never be judged on conventional "go get a good average in every country" logic.

74.2 78.8 kph, lazy, tired, bored! Does nothing to this. Just stands there and brings the bat down in slow motion. The ball, as has been the case with Vettori today, doesn't turn, goes with the arm, hits his bad down the leg side and then ricochets onto the middle stump. Smiling and chatting with Gambhir as he walks off 297/2

They are some great stories. Cheers. I wish he played for Australia so I could have watched every game of his. Sewag played how I imagine someone would play if you could smoke weed before padding up. He was just so not bothered by the things around him.

Remember Langer going back to the hut laughing his ass off after a double against us once. Not sure who he opened with at the time. 99% sure it was Hayden and he got a big score in the innings too. Think it was a game in Oz.

On the day everyone else looked like an idiot

There were some great shots in there from when I imagine he was 70 or so onwards. But fair dinkum that's a very ordinary highlight reel. Edges all day, dropped at first slip. There's barely a cracking shot in the first 2 minutes of the video. Very odd vid to find on the first page of this thread.

Haha its funny, but let's just be clear here. That doesn't make him a better batsman, and its not an excuse. Yeah India were 1/297 when he did it, but its hardly like India have never collapsed before.

I love Sehwag, but if you get out being bored its funny but if that hurts your average overseas then you cop it on the chin when people criticise you for your **** average overseas.
