Vettori's turning out to be a great all-rounder. In my mind, he's a very valuable asset for NZ...

His batting has really improved lately, which is great. His bowling has really fallen apart over the last year or so. He's not flighting the ball that well and doesn't turn it much anymore. His average is steadily creeping up.

Unfortunately he hasn't responded well to constructive criticism either. Recent comments provoked a response from Vettori along the lines of "I got a 6-for against Australia!". Too bad that was 2 years ago... :(

It is a highly offensive term here - almost in line with "n___".

As we are an International community, we obviously have to be careful about these things.

Cheers guys :)

You'll never find me using nigga, **** etc.
But I can assure you plenty of people use the former without any insult intended or taken.
It is an outdated insult and another very stupid one, like "gay" etc.

I'm not for a minute suggesting it should be used.
Just that both aren't neccesarily as black as they're painted (no pun intended). But unless you're talking one-on-one you shouldn't use the terms because others might, understandibly, take it out of context.

Exactly. Case closed...

Saqlain likely to return now that Wasim Bari's in charge again?

Hopefully.
His exclusion from ODIs is really rather baffling. Test-matches slightly more understandible, but while there are better, there are also plenty worse, some of whom are being selected instead.

Do you take offense to being called an "idiot", or have you gotten used to that one?

how long did u spend thinking of that one mate?
A minute or so... :)

I laughed when I thought of it. No offense though - I just thought that it was a silly thing to say. Come on - who really finds "Aussie" offensive?

But enough. Weren't we redirected back to Saqulain about 8 posts ago?

lol, well seriously i don't take offence to aussie...but i have LOTS and LOTS of pakistani friends, and i refer 2 them as pakis, they refer 2 themselves as ****'s, and there is no problem watsoever.... so the point i'm trying 2 make is that a simple abbreviation is NOT offensive... Kiwis, windies etc etc. it is an abbreviation...

would some1 plz explain wat part of "****" is offensive to ne1? and then maybe i'll stop it, but only if some1 can give me a good reason

"Delete Expletives?" - Survey Researched by NOP for the ASA, BBC, BSC and ITC

http://media.guardian.co.uk/broadcast/table/0,7493,409833,00.html - This link contains offensive language

"****" is considered Very Severe by 34%, Severe by 26%, Mild by 16% and Not Swearing by 24%.

This ranks it 10th, up from 17th on the previous survey.

We're not trying to suppress free speech - but the moderators' decision is that the word should not be used, and part of belonging to the CW community is to stay within the lines.

I am aware offence is unintended, but it is often taken in the UK.

Everyday, maybe - however, we have no control over the type/ages of readers/members on the site.

The list is a representative sample of the UK population - it is factual - and your opinions will be reflected at some place in it - the "Not Swearing column".

At no point did I say you couldn't use the lower-ranked words. I personally have no problems with anything but the racist terms in general conversation - but will not use anything offensive here.

This is a public forum so reasonable steps must be taken... and words that can cause such offense should not be used.

International 12th Man
bleh,fine fine

still reckon that the forum should lighten up a lil on some of those words....it's ludacrious that such commonplace words and abbreviations are being banned from this forums...

but i'll stop myself...

Well that's nice to know, but someone obviously disagrees with you.

'****' is used as a racial slur by thugs in UK. That much is without doubt.

If you want people who log on from UK to think you are a racist then you might think that it's your problem........except it isn't your problem, it's ours too as it gives the impression that our members are racially prejudiced and that is not the environment that people are likely to join the community.

Anyway, it's of inconsequence. If the moderators have decided that they don't like people using it then what's the problem? It's an extra 5 letters on the keyboard and that's all it takes to solve the situation.
