Rugby Union All-Time Draft

Francis

State Vice-Captain
Can't put off a scrum-half any longer. He was good enough to keep Sid Going out of the AB's test team, so he's good enough for me: Chris Laidlaw.
He's likely a great choice and an absolute steal in these late rounds. I was fortunate to meet a rugby fanatic last year who assured me Laidlaw was New Zealand's greatest ever halfback.

Laidlaw is the Rhodes schollar I was referring to who said Ken Catchpole was better than Gareth Edwards and the best halfback ever...

I still need positions 6 and 7, I think number 7 is a flaker right? So whats number 6?

Hmmm, struggling to find a no.6/blindside flanker. For those with a more indepth knowledge of the game, is there a noticeable differen skill-set required for a blindside flanker compared to openside? Or could someone who generally played no.7 fit in at no.6 comfortably?

Depends on waht you want from them...flankers such as george smith get around the ground quicker and pilfer possession. Someone like a Josh kronfeld is generally more defensive and preys on fly-halfs who are to slow getting rid of the ball.

Generally, very generally, a 7 is the quicker more mobile one and the 6 is an enforcer type who can truck the pill up and lay some pain in defence.

Generally though a good 7 can also play 6...As Australia did a couple of years back with messrs smith and *****

So in the event that I say "ahhhhh cbf" and pick someone who usually played 7 @ 6, it's no big deal.

Haha, shhhhhh Tharmi. I automatically assumed some **** would take half the players I have in mind before my next pick so I need to get a few options.

List is updated on the previous page. Only one pick to complete round 11.

Also couldn't help noticing that Jamee's the only selector yet to pick a first five eight - and given the number of England players in his team so far I wouldn't bet against him taking a recent English first five at the last minute to complete his side. ;)

If Ohtani hasn't picked in the next half hour i will...I'm picking an 8 and Ohtani already has is 678 sorted so i wouldn't be stealing a potential pick from him.

Viliami (William) Ofahengaue will be my #8

Love the Willie O, favourtie player as a kid and one of the best names in world rugby.
