Road to the Ashes 2021/22

International Coach
We knew Harris would be there already. Taking that as a given, the squad is perfect.
Yeah. Maddinson over Harris in a perfect world

Think the most realistic team they'd run in with would be

Warner
Harris
Labuschange
Smith
Khawaja
Green
Paine
Cummins
Starc
Haze
Lyon

Burgey

If they’re going to play an allrounder at six then Harris aside that’s about as good as they could run with, pending Tim Ward’s inevitable ascension to test opener

When is Glenn McGrath scheduled to issues his ritual Australia wins 5-0 prediction. Is this still a thing?

I think the A squad is perhaps more interesting than the main squad. Inglis, Street and Renshaw surprising but not unwelcome inclusions. Looks like the selectors are in the process of deciding who should succeed Paine. Good to see Renshaw back in the mix as well. Street is probably the best opener who hasn't already been tried and has played at least a season.

I rate hunt higher than street based on his last 2 shield tons, but there very similar players. Both are solid shield bats who are a solid season away from test squad readiness, happy to see both of them playing for AUS-A. Bit surprised neither Benny d or wildermuth got an A-game honestly, Benny D did well last shield/Aus-A season and has done decently this season and Jacky has been great for the A team recently.

You can play Wade and Hunt, it won't make any difference. Australia could win this series with the SA second team.

This is probably true but bad selection is always annoying and worth discussing.
Sorry I just have a massive downer on this series. People keep asking me if I will go to the Boxing Day test, I tell them I hate watching the Ashes as it brings out the worst in both countries.
