Road to the Ashes 2021/22

Yeah now that I think Wade is technically the incumbent five, forgot about that.

Well done to him for his contributions in the T20WC, but no way at all should that get him in Test calculations

With the amount of media coverage around him recently it seems like Steketee is pretty much a lock for the wider squad at least. Can't say I am that enthused myself

Jhye being damn good in the Shield has been about the only encouraging news Ashes wise of recent times. Agree that he would have to be strongly considered to make the first test XI should he continue this form. Would be interested to know what pace he's bowling, definitely looks 140+ to me but with no speedgun I cannot be sure.
Starc still is far ahead of guys like Abbott and Steketee though
I'd have Abbott ahead of Starc tbh

I wouldn't. While Abbott's red ball bowling has certainly improved night and day from where he was a few years back, he strikes me as someone who would have to be bowling at his absolute best to challenge international class batsmen on typical Australian test decks. I always would prefer a bit of extra pace, not that Abbott is exactly slow, but nor is he a regular 140+ bowler

can wade by an incumbent when he was completely dropped from the most test squad that was announced, albeit for a tour that was cancelled

It doesn't matter who Australia pick as keeper, they will still win. Just give Paine the series and let him retire at the end.

That A team would beat England 4-0 let alone the first team. Probably all the state sides would too even South Australia.
