The vote for the #15 batsman of all-time begins now.

The Contenders

aussie tragic

International Captain
15. Ricky Ponting because:

Only Sutcliffe (Herb, not the NZ that Perm is voting for), Barrington, Walcott, Harvey, Miandad, Compton and Border are remaining for the "Old Guard" and I think Punter is already better than all of them (plus he will become better than Lara & Tendulkar IMO).

Toss up between Ponting and Dravid for me. Miandad and Border not far behind.

I'll go Ponting. Probably more likely to get in anyway.

lara should be at least 3 maybe even 2. richards should be 1 under lara.
So Lara is better than Sir Jack Hobbs (one of the five cricketers of the century BTW) and Gary Sobers?

I think Sutcliffe should be in next, but I don't want Ponting to go ahead of either him or Walcott....so, I'll go Walcott.

Dravid shouldn't be in the top 20 IMO, maybe not even top 25. Ponting should be in top 20 though, and I'll vote for him after about two or maybe three more are in.

Good thinking :)

Victor Trumper. The man was regarded universally by everyone who saw him as the greatest batsman ever, until Bradman, and even then many were grudging in their admission that Bradman was better. Times and stats change, but for somebody who so dominated the minds of informed judges over a period of decades surely deserves a spot in the top 15 of all time. Sutcliffe, Walcott, and Ponting aren't even regarded as unambiguously the best batsmen of the teams they played in, let alone their period.

My stance is that average players sometimes have decent stats, but great players never have bad stats.
Tell me that's not directed at Trumper.
