Newbies vs Geezers
at CWBCC Stadium
Scorecard
Ball By Ball
The Geezers went down for the second time running after being batted out of the game by the newcomers. A fantastic opening stand between Black talents Ritchie and Burge responded to the Geezers' 447 - achieved despite König and Cole whittling through the middle. Weber and Nayak threw the bat for the last wicket, adding 91 swiftly, before Burge broke through having Nayak lbw.
In response, the Newbies put on 253 for the first wicket, and Cole and Fitzsimmons smashed 162 for the fourth. The Geezers had no one to turn to, with their main bowling threats on paper, Gelman and Smith, going wicketless. Then, only Jamee Gray kept his head with 90, as the Geezers capitulated to set a feeble target and give the n00bs an easy target for a ten-wicket win.

Captains vs Internationals

Scorecard
Ball By Ball
A flat pitch got flatter, as a splendid contribution from Nick Scott was not enough to prevent the Captains chasing a massive total. The captains' batting seems to be fantastically dependable.
Mat Mitchell was dominant with the ball early on, almost despite conditions, taking four wickets with dominant inswing as the Internationals slipped to 80 for five. Despite Scott's unbeaten 36, Thomas took a wicket with his third ball to cut the Internationals short at 175. In response, the Captains added a hundred for the first wicket, then self-destructed to Stedman and Rose just before the close of play. Sixteen wickets had fallen on the first day, and the match looked to be over in a maximum of three days.
Not so. Though the Internationals were whittled down to 121 for five at tea on day two, Kerr, Scott and de Silva fought back, determined to set a hefty total. A 189-run eighth-wicket stand between Scott and Stedman took the better part of a day to complete, though the last wickets fell feebly - Clapham was last out, the third run out of the innings. Set 356 to win, however, the Captains were undeterred; a virtually chanceless chase - though Smith converted to 82 after being reprieved from a stone cold lbw on 15 - gave the Captains a nine-wicket win.
