Why does that not surprise me?

i have no reason to surprise you, i mean im sure you cant see Australia getting smashed any time soon, at worst they should be close series against SRL and India, which is fine, but i think Ponting will lead Australia through :)

For what I think would happen:

vs SL (Away): 1-0 SL
vs Zim (Away): 2-0 Aus
vs Ind (Away): 2-1 Ind (1 Drawn Test)
vs SL (Home): 2-0 Aus
vs Pak (Home): 2-0 Aus

I don't expect Australia to conquer India and Sri Lanka, even if Warne and McGrath were back....too much of a gap between wins in those countries are going to play on Ponting's mind and I think he might try too hard for a win and eventually lose both series....

Draw in SL
Draw (at best) in India
Win the other 3

Of course, once Vish has put his predictions, everyone else may as well just copy them!

But do they really need a succesful warne? Despite MacGill bowling poorly against India, his figures suggest he isnt much worse anyway.....
Take out the (fairly) recent Bangladesh series and MacGill's average slips up to 30.70.
His only decent times have been in Pakistan on debut, against England in the days when all you had to do was set a whisper about the dressing-room that a leg-spinner was in the opposition side and they'd all be looking skywards, and two one-off Tests against South Africa.
IMO MacGill is a very average bowler.

If South Africa were to play Australia now it would be a very close series, even if McGrath and Warne were to return.

Kallis is in unbelievable form and Nel, Ntini, Pollock are not in the worst of it either. I think South Africa would slip home.
I think the best time for SA to play Aus will be when they're next scheduled to.
Kallis has surely burned all his runs for this season, Kirsten surely - surely can't go on keeping his average going up (won't complain if he does, though), Gibbs read Kallis, and though Nel has come on leaps and bounds (and Ntini keeps taking two steps forward and one back) I still don't think they're as good as they could be.
In 2 years' time, hopefully SA will have a World-beating side - though I've thought that before.

im gonna tip An Aussie win in everything, Pontings captaincy will be good and Warney will be back (which also solves the first slip problem) obviously the India series will be the toughest but i think we can win there too, no surprises there though, Harbajan has been seen and will probably take alot fewer wickets than last time.
What's to say there won't be any surprises ?

They certainly have the potential... Watch for guys like Dian Van Wyk and Vaughn Van Jaarsveld (Gauteng) , I think these guys have the class to replace the likes of Kirsten...

Graeme Smith is in his early 20's... Kallis and Gibbs are still young.. Pollock has miles in the tank...

In the bowling attack, well past Nel and Ntini, we have Monde Zondeki and Mfuneko Ngam... These guys are learning to combine raw pace with accuracy and a cricketing brain....

Spin is the only worry.. But when Warne goes, I think Australia will be in the same boat....

SA are the team of the future, but more cricket is played in the mind than elsewhere, Im yet to be convinced that they have the nouse to beat the Aussies, under Smith however, they certainly have the determination...

Australia will have to improve alot to win in India......I don't think it will happen this coming series though...

Well i think if Pakistan has Shoaib akhtar in good form and they get ready with one or two other good suporting bowlers like Sami .. Pakistan do have a chance to win the test series. They won it against SA in Pakistan they can do it again against the Aussies. Dont you guys think??

There's a big difference between SA at home and Aus away...

Shane Keith Warne

MacGill tends to have the better overall figures, but I would always toss the ball to Warne before I would MacGill. Especially in a bowling attack which lacks the depth of resources such as this Australian attack appears to.
Indians will be more than happy to see these two great great
spin bowlers in the australian team when thay tour india in oct 04

Are they scheduled to be in another country?
I'm really not sure as to the exact details, but the problem has been stated as 'scheduling contraints'. The tour looks like it will be postponed until after the 05/06 season.
