aussie tragic

International Captain
Coming close to wrapping this team up so I thought I'd remind everyone that it was decided to have the final bowler position being picked between Murali and the top 4 runner-ups in the pace bowler Poll:

Therefore, the following will be the nominees for the Final Bowler Poll:

Wasim Akram: 99 tests, 394 wkts @ 23.59, SR 54.4, Econ 2.60 (23/4)
Richard Hadlee: 26 tests, 132 wkts @ 21.73, SR 50.0, Econ 2.60 (12/3)
Malcolm Marshall: 41 tests, 188 wkts @ 19.78, SR 46.3, Econ 2.55 (9/2)
Muttiah Muralitharan: 108 tests, 657 Wkts @ 21.96, SR 55.0, Econ 2.39 (56 / 18)
Waqar Younis: 87 tests, 373 wkts @ 23.56, SR 43.4, Econ 3.25 (22/5)

Bagapath, please post this as a 5-day Poll when the # 6 Position Poll is finished as I will not be available

(I will try to come on line to vote for Marshall though).

Btw, the 1986-2006 World XI so far:

1. Matthew Hayden: 84 tests, 7326 runs @ 53.08 (26/26)
2. Saeed Anwar: 55 tests, 4052 runs @ 45.52 (11/25)
3. Ricky Ponting: 105 tests, 8792 runs @ 58.22 (31/34)
4. Sachin Tendulkar: 132 tests, 10469 runs @ 55.39 (35/41)

I am also opening a three day poll starting today to select the skipper for this team. I have to thank aussie tragic for running this thread superbly. it has been great fun so far. we will have the whole team ready by this week end.

not thought about it. if popular opinion is for it then we shall do that as well. or we could announce the runner up of no.6, steve waugh, as the 12th man. cant think of anyone else too.

How about putting the runners-up for #6 (Waugh, Dravid, Richards i think?) and the runners-up for the final bowlers spot (Hadlee, Akram, Marshall, Waqar right now) in the race for 12th man?

That sounds good to me. I reckon Waugh would make it through, but I'd be voting for Wasim Akram. I think he could replace Murali or Warne on seaming pitches.

We can select the 12th man through voting in this thread instead of a separate poll. This way we can nominate anyone. I'll count the votes on Sunday. I'll start with my choice:

Steve Waugh

Fratboy

School Boy/Girl Captain
Rahul Dravid made the polls for the most number of positions. Therefore it is natural that he'd step into the team seamlessly no matter which batsman gets injured, hypothetically speaking. The logical choice for 12th man.

I'll give the final bowler spot to Marshal
