But you could argue bell's droppings have more to do with the fact he doesn't fit into the current set-up rather than poor performances.
You might, but I'd disagree with you unless you know something about Bell that I don't. In the Ashes, he actually looked worse by the 4th & 5th tests than he did at the start of the series. Pakistan should have given him the confidence to got on to even better things in India, but he just looked like a walking wicket there. Ultimately Bell vs Colly was always going to be a tricky call that you could argue either way, and I don't know for certain whether they've got it right, but I struggle to see it due to anything other than performances.

GIMH

Norwood's on Fire
Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath, justing Langer, Matthew Hayden, Ricky Ponting. All overplayed. If you ask me, Australia should purely play untried youth in their next series.

Now who is that against??

Arjun - Hadlee overplayed? In his last two seasons he still averaged around 22 with the ball. And of course capped off his test career with a wicket off his last ball - even if it was Devon Malcolm's giftwrapped scalp.

Run like Inzy

U19 12th Man
Waqar Younis, Aaqib Javed, Mushtaq Ahmed, Saqlain Mushtaq (dont know whether he will be back) all under played
Miandad, Moin Khan, Rashid Latif probably played too much.
Pakistan just don't know when to drop a player and when to carry on!

OverPlayed = Javed Miandad, KapilDev, Sachin Tendulkar, Steve Waugh
UnderPlayed= Sunny Gavaskar

Jono

Virat Kohli (c)
Saqlain's int'l career ended a lot earlier than I thought it would when he came off the scene.

Afridi's test career almost ended prematurely too lol.

i take this thread is basically about anyone who played on beyond their peak, by that rationale, King Viv played too long,Ian Botham did, and Bradman played one innings too many:)

Neil McKenzie - under played
Robin Peterson - overplayed

And perhaps Stuart Law counts under played, although there was hardly a spot for him. You could say the same for Darren Lehmann.
I didn't even know as if he has retired i.e. Neil McKenzie . Well , The gentleman had a great technique but he sucked at the free flow times. Great asset he was..

I don't suppose he could've sat in the dressing room and said "don't fancy it today boys, got a bit of a niggle so best I don't bat"?

Michael Bevan was underplayed (in ODI's atleast) given his season with Tasmania which followed his axing from the national side. I guess that was more of a compulsory 'retirement' though.

I always felt Bichel was underplayed somewhat in ODI's. Had a stellar World Cup in 2003, and then seemed to vanish. Didn't rate the bloke in Tests though.

Roshan Mahanama was surely underplayed, he left mainly due to internal poilitics
Could play that guy too. I remember him making a particularly elegant century out here in Australia one year.
