The Tiger King
This sounds extremely conntroversialThis may be controversial but i certainly think Viv Richards ,Garry Sobers and Richard Hadlee are all a bit overrated on this forum on one aspect or the other.

It's the letting them draw their own conclusions that's the most fun though.I thought Burgey was taking the piss with that post, not offering a serious opinion masquerading as taking the piss. I'd think he'd know better.
You missed out Botham off the crap captains list. There's no way in the world that Ponting is the worst ever captain, it's ridiculous hyperbole. Look at someone like Chanderpaul, Mohammed Yousuf; there are guys who make decisions on the field as bad as Ponting. As I've said before, it's that Ponting's been good enough in other aspects of the job to keep him as captain for such a long time, which means that there are more bad decisions to point at over a long time.
I highly disagree on Hadlee. This may be controversial but i certainly think Viv Richards ,Garry Sobers and Richard Hadlee are all a bit overrated on this forum on one aspect or the other.
yeah. If anything poor Hadlee seems to be massively under rated.I highly disagree on Hadlee.
I didn't say he was the worst ever captain, I said he is the worst captain (tactically) that I've ever seen. That's ~15 out of 100+ years of there being Test captains. There's no way in the world that Ponting is the worst ever captain, it's ridiculous hyperbole. Lol... Comparing Tendulkar to Bradman is like comparing Rick Darling to Tendulkar.Bradman, he isn't a ****ing god and people shouldn't jump on posters who question his superiority with genuine, valid questions. Any such question is generally answered condescendingly and the posters shooed away. Those sort of condescending answers by Aussie fanboys has made me dislike him as a player. Worst set of fanboys in cricket are Bradman's.
Now replace the name Bradman with Tendulkar and you will see that both of those statements are true.
You think Ponting was tactically worse than Chanderpaul? Really?I didn't say he was the worst ever captain, I said he is the worst captain (tactically) that I've ever seen. That's ~15 out of 100+ years of there being Test captains.
And we're not talking about tactical mistakes, or bad, or even terrible decisions, we're talking about 'lol thx for the series' decisions. Anyway, I don't want to harp on this at all - just said my two cents when someone mentioned his captaincy actually takes him higher.
Yes. By far. But Chanderpaul has only had 14 Tests as leader so far, so we'll see.You think Ponting was tactically worse than Chanderpaul? Really?
I was going to say that, but with their current captain being Sammy he may have another stint. What do you mean we'll see? Chanders is done as skipper isn't he?
Yeah no doubt. Even if you're removing leadership and just looking at tactics (which tbf to SS is what I think he was doing), Ponting may be below average but he's by no means as bad as someone like Chanderpaul.Ah right.
Anyway, Chanders was definitely worse than Ponting IMO.
Yeah, I think the match situation is a lot easier to read in ODIs.It's odd Ponting's tactics in tests are so often bizarre, yet his odi captaincy seems spot on so often.
Maybe the more formulaic nature of LO stuff suits him more.
