Ngidi doesn’t deserve to get ahead of Oliver in the pecking order. One bad innings doesn’t change anything.
If you notice my past posts it is not about one bad innings... I've had an issue with Olivier and his inconsistency since he debuted, this particular innings showed all the exact problems I have with him, and his intimidation factor did not pay off as the Pakistan batsmen get used to the bouncier pitches. When he starts building an over against a batsmen, I will be much happier. Ngidi has done just as well with his opportunities and I prefer how Ngidi attacks the top of off more brings the ball in and targets the stumps. Both are a great options as a 4th/5th seamer. As stated by Heboric, I don't think there will be any selection dilemmas at the moment because of Ngidi's injury.

Nor does one good innings (or match). Olivier was never ahead of Ngidi in the first place for Ngidi to have to overtake him.

My opinion is they have told him to be an enforcer. I think he has shown he has stamina and pace to pull it off in long spells too. That is why I said when it was confirmed Olivier was playing a few days before the test I said hope the enforcer hype doesn't become a thing.

When he won the 4-day with Knights de Lange was the enforcer and Olivier pitched it up. There is no doubt he is versatile. I also think he has improved even more from his Derbyshire spell.

Saying that I still rate Lungi has a higher ceiling but injuries are a concern.

Olivier is a far better bowler than this enforcer role he's been asked to play. His stats at domestic level shows this.

I don't think the pitch had quite as much pace (at least consistently) for that role to have worked yesterday. Easy to say with hindsight of course. Would like to see that enforcer thing used in specific situations only. I remember an ODI where Kallis pulled us out of a hole bowling that way...

Feel for de Bruyn. Battling for his spot and he can only come out and make 20.

de Bruyn was on a hiding to nothing lose lose situation just like last time. But still a poor loose shot....

I think they have given an enforcer role to him as well, which is not really needed... I've seen Olivier pitch it up and do well, he is an excellent bowler.

Where you at the cricket yesterday? How was it?

Should be the last of de Bruyn for a while now? I'd ideally give him one more series, but jeez he's botched up the starts, literally thrown it away.

Yeah. Lucky enough to sit in a box. Went with my old man. Previous client of his down from England so he offered us to come.

It was a good days cricket. Runs and wickets. I wanted us to bat longer in the morning just to perhaps draw the game out as could have gone again today.

They persisted with Bavuma this far so I doubt they’ll ditch De Bruyn in a hurry.
