Pakistan Tour of South Africa 2018/19

So did Bavuma but...
Why don't you come out and say it? Bavuma is playing because he's black and he's nothing but a qouta player, am I right?

A look at your post history makes for dire reading. Bavuma averages more than 20 last time I checked and has earned his position by bailing us out of sticky situations on countless occasions yet you'll never recognise that because according to you, he's nothing but a qouta player.

His argument is that Bavuma got more chances than de Bruyn has had so he should continue.
That part of the argument I get. It's the giving De Bruyn a chance at the expense of Bavuma that I don't. It's not impossible that De Bruyn could come right and end up putting in better performances, but it doesn't make sense to pick someone who might perform better over someone who has performed better.

If we are going to play the spinner in the sri Lanka series. Might be the selectors be tempted to play mulder especially with India also coming?

I am thinking of them wanting that extra seamer.

Wondered about Muthusamy?
How much better a bowler is Maharaj than Muthusamy? Muthusamy is definitely the better batsman, so if there's not a great deal to choose between them on the bowling front then there's a case for Muthusamy getting the nod.

The problem with Muthusamy is that even though he bats in the top 6 for the Dolphins, a first-class average of 33 suggests that even 7 might be one spot too high for him. So four seamers with Muthusamy as the spinner is not ideal.

And with regards to himbeing the second spinner when we go to India, the problem is that he's the same type as Maharaj. So Piedt or Shamsi might be better options because of variety.

Not a replacement for Maharaj. I spoke about this in the selection thread Muthusamy would bat 7 he has was a top scorer last season. Not done great this season with bat, which has possibly affected his selection. If a true gravel road, then play Piedt, Maharaj and Muthusamy with Rabada and Steyn. Else Philander for Piedt. Still keep batting at least the same but give spin options. The point though being that right now would you play Mulder in India as a starting selection, when Muthusamy has done pretty well with both bat and ball and suits the conditions better. And apparently Hamza is considered a good player of spin. Mulder would be a natural starter anywhere outside the subcontinent.

Don't think he is good enough as a batsman. So I am thinking kg,dale, keshav, piedt and mulder as the bowlers. With some backup from aiden and dean.
He has scored 7 centuries and 17 50's he is a better batsman than his stats show. His poor form this year has not helped him.

Agree with Dendarii and Stefan.

1. Not a better bowler than Kesh and same type
2. Averaging about 13 this season & he hasn't been the most obviously talented batsman having followed him through the system.

He needs to do far more. He needs to make sure he makes the SA A team again.

Last season, Muthusamy played 10 matches, averaged 39 with five 50s and no centuries. The previous season it was 8 matches, an average of 34.5 with one century (a big one of 181) and two 50s. That's not really good enough to justify his selection over a specialist batsman (or Mulder).

I was all for playing Mulder in our top 6 until I realised we where playing in India as our next Tests series after WC. I would rather have the extra outright batsmen and 4 bowlers.

With the state of our batting it needed this from Hash just like Faf last test. Good from the senior boys.

Biggest boon this series. Markram, Amla, Faf, Bavuma and QDK have all made runs against a good attack on challenging wickets.

Don't want to be greedy but these two need to get 100s

It feels like ages since they have done so in tests. So many 50s.
