*Official* Zimbabwe in West Indies

22 overs bowled before the drinks break

The seamer bowled one over, went for 14 and that was that. Great stuff. Truly enthralling cricket.

So whilst this is encouraging from Zimbabwe, they are going to have to find a proper seam bowler or two before even thinking about test cricket.

A half-century to Gayle....

They really missed his power at the top in the 20/20.

As for Miller, I would prefer to see him used in test cricket, and benn in ODIs. Though, I can't argue with Benn's returns in test cricket lately....

Khan should only be considered for Test cricket at this stage of his career. I'm not sure about Kantasingh in this format of the game either.

I don't think there will be another wicket like Queens' park oval agian. I think benn is enough for the games in Guyana and St Vincent. We don't need to play both Miller and benn in the ODIs.....

Whatever happened to edward Rainford?

gayle out now for 57....

Can any other WI batsman score a half-century, I wonder?

Didn't see much of the Zimbabwe innings, but there doesn't appear to be any disconcerting spin around, seems slow and low, but would expect WI to continue milking the spinners with little damage in the wickets lost department. As I say that Lamb gets one to rip a fair bit.

Oh dear AB that's not the best shot to play on a very slow/low/turning wicket.

Maybe he was so shocked to see a pacer bowling that he lost all concentration?

Very poor shot in truth, battled his way to 50 then simply lost concentration, but fair play to him on debut. Maybe a touch too cautious, but may prove an important knock.

Good that Barath got to 50, even if he got out right afterwards....

Once again, I'm disappointed in Fletcher's innings, especially his running.

What's worrying for the West Indies is that this is a good batting surface. Slow and low but its not the vicious turner we saw in the 20/20 game. Got themselves into a huge hole.

At least Deonarine is there now....

I rate him as a much better batsman than Fletcher. Unlike Fletcher, Deonarine can use his feet, and his head.

Has a huge no-ball problem and hence is too much of a liability in OD cricket with the free hit rule. I'd be inclined to play him anyway though; far and away the best seamer in the country.

They have got themselves into a bit of a hole here regarding the run rate continuing to rise. It looks the type of pitch that should be easy to bat on if you're aim is preserving your wicket, but would be more difficult when playing expansive shots with the older ball, which they'll inevitably have to to get the run rate down.

Going to have to work the ball round much better, find the gaps and run hard.

Wow, this match took me to the 90s when India used to field 3 spinners and Ganguly used to open bowling  Actually I am glad to see spinners dominating although using 5 spinners is a bit extreme.

Taibu has been generally a bit careless in his keeping but he just came up with a fantastic piece of work to run out Deonarine. It was lolworthy to watch Chanderpaul scurry to get back to his crease lest Deonarine overtook him ala Runako Morton did in that infamous but hilarious run out in New Zealand a few seasons back

Shocking mix up there!!!, this is looking bad right now, i guess it might be a blessing in disguise that Pollard is coming in next because he can certainly increase our run rate if he gets going.

Pollard throws away his wicket now....
8-)
These guys could learn a lot from the way Shiv builds an innings.

Pollard gone, he never looked set tbh - but West Indies must still be slight favourites while Chanders is there.

Ramdin got horribly bogged down on Sunday and he doesn't seem to be doing any better now. 10 an over wanted!

Shiv should have been gone there, Utseya misses from two yards.

Such good bowling from Price.
