and another nice bit of farce to finish the day
Sorta summed the day up really, didn't it?superkingdave said:and another nice bit of farce to finish the day
the umpires thought the scheduled finish time was 6, and thus they could play on until half six. but the finish time was actually half 5 which meant they were meant to come of at six (which is a joke anyway). So they carried on till 7 minutes past before someone got the message and they came off.FaaipDeOiad said:What exactly happened at the end of the day?
Ahh. Test cricket standard all round then, I see.superkingdave said:the umpires thought the scheduled finish time was 6, and thus they could play on until half six. but the finish time was actually half 5 which meant they were meant to come of at six (which is a joke anyway). And it's also much, much less likely.marc71178 said:So in your view it's better to allow a man in such form to play himself in comfortably than attack him straightaway even if it gives a few away?
5 down less than half way to the target starts the odd alarm bell.
TBF he bowled far better than he has for a while.BoyBrumby said:4 wickets for Kallis too, Zim really must be a shower of something brown & smelly!
Hmm... ICC have a habit of managing to pretend the most blatant of things are not happening in my experience... especially when there's $$$s at stake...Slow Love™ said:Wow, I just read about today's play. Unbelievable (well, pretty believable actually, but you know what I mean)..
Well, they've been convincingly beaten by Bangladesh, and this was nothing short of an obliteration. Ultimately, if the ICC take action and suspend them, it might attract some needed attention, and still have some positive value. It seems like the wisden writers at cricinfo are openly begging the ICC to do it. They can't run away from the proclamation about standards they made just after the Sri Lankans toured forever, even if the issue has been (deliberately) muddied a tad by the return of Heath Streak and Blignaut.
Ah! Another learned source condemning Zimbabwe matches as incorrect to be counted as internationals!twctopcat said:Any records that may come from this game shouldn't count - but of course they will.
Couldn't have been sarcasm, could it?scottcraze said:37.5 Cremer to de Villiers, OUT: uses his feet, thick outside edge goes

rip thru the rest of the tail now
Thats a bit harsh by cricinfo!
Ernest Toshack was some bowler.Samuel_Vimes said:Oh dear...
Ain't like this one matters.wpdavid said:De Villiers must be gutted not to reach his ton. Twice out in the 90's now, IIRC.
Just almost!Neil Pickup said:I can't believe it's been done quicker. This is almost in excess of ODI scoring.
Hardly likely, given that he's not taken responsibility for destroying everything else about the once beautiful and bountiful country.Chubb said:I fear Zimbabwe will never recover from this. I would not like to be in the dressing room now!!
Seriously, this is another sad day for a poor benighted country the world is ignoring because they don't have any oil. I would like to refer to some of my posts in the Bangladesh thread, that I think it is unfair to kick these young players whilst they are down. This is not their fault! This is Mugabe's fault, and he must take responsobility.
Wonderfully done on watching how well Kallis actually bowled.Scaly piscine said:Amusing that Kallis was so keen to bowl when the Zim boys are in town... I forget what the exact phrase is that I thought was very appropriate when I heard it, something like 'red ink syndrome' (although he did only score Zimbabwe's total with the bat)?
