*Official* World Test Championship Final at The Oval – June 7–11, 2023

He has already said in an interview he wants to bat with #intent.

Honestly, a mentally freed up Rahane swinging for the fences at 5 may not be our worst bet right now given both Shreyas and Pant, who tend to play similar roles for us, are out injured. Jadeja can drop anchor at 6 and we may still yet debut Ishy Kishy if they play 4 seamers.
Our batting lineup is really poor right now and he just makes it even shittier…no Pant, no Bumrah and English conditions don’t give us much of a chance to be competitive anyway so I guess this probably won’t make much of a difference to the end result…

I guess we are looking at -

Rohit
Gill
Puji
Virat
Rahane
Jadeja
Kishan / Bharat (wk)
Shardul
Ashwin / Umesh
Shami
Siraj

Its either gonna be Umesh and Ishan or Bharat and Ashwin.
Will they play both Ashwin and Jadeja in English conditions?

Wait, sorry I stand corrected. They did do the standard one shitbag thing they always have to in order to be true to their cricketing traditions when they prepped a pitch differently down one side than the other so it played differently for right handers to lefties. Which tbf was genuinely hilarious. Even the wonderfully even tempered Spark was rightly outraged by that blatant effort.

To be fair that was hypothetical and the actual pitch that ended up being served up for that Test was a good, fair Test pitch.

If where gonna talk about shithousery last border gavaskar, have to give a fair shout to the CA management team. Dropping head after he was our best bat in the home summer for a guy who had spent the past 12 months opening, in SENA, to bat middle order in Asia. Backing a guy who barely played red ball cricket and was shite when he did, then dropping him before the first test for a 20 YO old spinner with barely any FC cricket under his belt, then the whole sweepathon collapse in the second test, then parachuting in a guy who was the ~6th choice spinner and wasn't even first pick for his state for the 3rd test when he wasn't even initially in the squad.

The fact we where one solid batting effort in the second test from winning that series 2-1 despite all the shithousery and unfortunate off field stuff is a thing of beauty.

I don't remember tbh. I just thought it was a pretty good series.

Most of those decisions either had at least 50% support here or actually worked out, to be fair.

Easy to say Head should've played in hindsight but about half of CW supported him being left out at the time. Agar is indeed crap but rightly didn't play, and both Murphy and Kuhenmann actually did really well.

Sweepathon was indeed dumb but probably can't be put down to CA management as such.

Was genuinely a flat out bizarre episode of batting from the entire team. Was like 11 blokes took off their heads and replaced them with pumpkins all at once.

After the shenanigans India pulled in the last series I want to thrash them so bad. I'd prefer an Ashes win, but not by that much.
Nay, this is the ultimate now in Test cricket. Historically it's the Ashes but the WTC Final.....should be a great contest between the two Test Giants in World Test cricket. As a neutral..and I am a neutral.....should be great viewing. I dont care who wins, I just want 5 days of good solid, competitive Test cricket
