NZ wouldve let Travis Head score 150 already tbhGame isn't over yet boys. If anyone could collapse this line up in this situation, It's Australia or India.
Australia almost certainly would with their psychological hold.
Dominating spin and playing important a knock here and there is not the same thing though. Record isn't particularly good beyond SL either. I'm not going to cherry pick stats but he doesn't look like some one who is very natural against spin (ie rotating the strike etc) and seem to get bogged down when playing spinners who turn the ball away from him like against Ashwin here in the first dig or against Lyon couple of years back.probably having a **** like me
i death ride latham for his weaknesses, but **** me he's played some important knocks in asia against good spinners.
Well, it hurts losing this for sure. Puts a bit of a dampener on the rest of the summer too. A win over England, if at all it happens, won't feel as great after this defeat.I wouldn't care at all if we lose this game. New Zealand needs some sort of consolation after the heartbreak in WC. Draw would also be good but it ain't happening. And New Zealand have been slightly ahead of India in this game overall, the sun was out since yesterday, we couldn't make the most of the improved batting conditions. Exceptional bowling by NZ.
Nah my warm up comment was tongue in cheek really. India's batsmen just suck in these conditions and you all underestimated how much they actually suck. More warmup wouldnt have helped change their fundamental flaws. Lateral movement is their kryptonite. They just need to somehow git gud. Never going to happen unless we have a dravid waiting in the wings. This Indian team would have been very handy if they had similar build up like we had with prior tests and time spent in UK. The do the same in NZ every time barring one time when most of their test players played in our domestic circuit and that's the year they won a test series here.
Their batters were under cooked too for these conditions. They had played a lot of cricket in Aussie on the tour before their famous series win.
Still their top order have lot of experience and should take the blame.
Inter squad game and some trainings just not good enough to prepare for an all important one off test match.
The good thing is they never complain about pitch, conditions etc. They just take it under and move on. That's a nice trait.
Which could place TJB in the suicide watch tbhNZ wouldve let Travis Head score 150 already tbh
Yap, but we still had enough fire power in our bowling unit to make the most of these conditions. Unfortunately, NZ were simply better.WE could have had our two warm up games and it would still have been even if the weather was like this. At the same time, in the actual game, there have been so many opportunities where we could have seized control of the game and let it go. Also, NZ are an awesome side and a lot of good balls were bowled and negotiated by them and fully deserve a win after such quality cricket.
They did win when Dravid, Laxman and few other players turned up and played for our domestic sides prior a test series. That's when they won the test series in NZ last.Nah my warm up comment was tongue in cheek really. He's been important in the UAE and in Sri Lanka from what opportunities he's had. He's very tidy in those conditions, finding gaps and getting props from someone as miserable as Sunny Gavaskar as the best Western batsman against spin in the world.Dominating spin and playing important a knock here and there is not the same thing though. That NZ team was also pretty dreadful tbf. They did win when Dravid, Laxman and few other players turned up and played for our domestic sides prior a test series. That's when they won the test series in NZ last.
Oh Rahul Dravid scored a hundred and Chawla playing for the opponent was milked for runs by Dravid.
There had been even worse sides we fielded and beat your all star sides comfortablyThat NZ team was also pretty dreadful tbf.
Haha, I still remember the 23/3 meme. Guptill, McIntosh and Flynn I think were the top 3. Taylor and Ryder turned on an ATG fightback to put 600 on India and our battler attack still couldn't win. Chris Martin, Iain O'Brien, Daniel Vettori, Jeetan Patel and James Franklin JFC.That NZ team was also pretty dreadful tbf.
Was an absolute road of a napier pitch IIRCHaha, I still remember the 23/3 meme. Guptill, McIntosh and Flynn I think were the top 3.
