spin makes india the slightly better side imo. we cpuld split hairs over the batting and quicks but india have a clear gap in spin

which is why i propose the game be played at hagley oval

One thing NZ must do is go into the game with awareness of what happens in the event of a tie or draw. I don't want the WTC to be decided on count back of tiddly-winks or on who did the best karaoke in the evening after day two of the test. Though I hear BJ Watling does a mean rendition of Under Pressure.

If India were coming in with such handy preparation as NZ are, there would have been cries of Big 3 discrimination
Haha yeah there would be, but I'd roll my eyes almost as hard as I have at the conspiracy theories surrounding the NZ preparation.

It's a little bit of an advantage that they've had this prep, but it was totally dumb luck. People wouldn't have even expected NZ to make the final when this series was arranged. It's IMO much more of an advantage that it's in England at all, but "our home conditions are closer to that of the neutral ground picked this time than theirs are" is also dumb luck.

Dumb luck in the right amounts makes sport interesting. The best team winning every time would be boring.

I don't think anyone who isn't trolling or a moron will suddenly think NZ are the best team in the world just because they beat India in conditions that favour them and that they've acclimatised to, if that happens. India have a better team than NZ, and NZ winning the final isn't gonna change that. Glory and superiority being linked but separate is why sport is great though.

India dont have a better team for the conditions. The bowling's just as good as NZ's but put any of our batsmen in english conditions and they get a massive stat debuff. Cant be overstated how much they suck when the ball has the audacity to move a centimetre off the straight.

Pitch is expected to aid pace & bounce which means it may not be a typical soft English pitch which our batsman struggle to deal with. So it can be good for stroke play.
Siraj Ishant & Bumrah should be the top 3 quicks imo.

Agree with most of this, but it's not that simple either. SA were a better ODI side than Aus in 99 but Aus winning the WC was followed by a period of domination over everyone, including SA. Self fulfilling belief and confidence is a real thing.

Won't it be grand? NZ win the championship. #1 Test team in the world. No Tests for 6 months, then 2 against Bangers.

What would you be saying if India were coming in with a 2 game prep against England while NZ had **** all?
Also, imagine, the WTC final is happening in Dhaka or Kandy and India having just won the series there with BD/SL. It would have been daunting for NZ to face India of Ashwin, Jadeja and Axar at that time in either of those venues with India match fit and them just arriving there. Same situation that India faces now.

Still, I believe the team will rise to the situation. Takes one brilliant innings/spell to turn the match around. /Jadeja
