No, we really didn't. You don't against good teams on good decks until you win.Pretty disappointed with the session. We had it on the bag after the first hour today.
Good to see Gavaskar crying. Brightens my day.

This does remind you of that game, but I don’t know if conditions were as stacked against the sort of high risk hitting which CdG/Jaimeson/Southee deal in in that game as here (Ashwin tried it in India’s innings). They’ll need more luck than usual IMO.India were in a similar position in Christchurch test last year if I remember correctly until Jamieson played a match turning inns. CDG & Jamieson are big threats for us. Kane will likely play safe till the end.
Any one?How many unplayable deliveries has Shami bowled so far?? His wicket taking deliveries were great, but he has bowled absolute gems that were even better. Also, is this a bad pitch? The "balance between bat n ball" and all?
Kookaburra ball vs dukes. This does remind you of that game, but I don’t know if conditions were as stacked against the sort of high risk hitting which CdG/Jaimeson/Southee deal in in that game as here (Ashwin tried it in India’s innings). They’ll need more luck than usual IMO.
Bumrah could have done better but he has bowled a fair number of deliveries that could have resulted in a wicket. He did start off a little loose, but overall, he has done well.Bumrah's undroppable for better or worse but looking at how the bowlers have gone, Siraj, Shami, and Ishant would've been ideal here. We'd still need the two spinners regardless of how much bowling they actually do because our batting is what it is.
I also hope this post ages horribly and Bumrah makes me eat **** tomorrow.
Pitch is alright but the conditions are the swing equivalent of Ahmedabad. England's clearly not fit for Test cricket.Any one?
How many times hadn't we been in such situation at home? Similar conditions, different ball yes but Nicholls or BJ or someone pulling us out of trouble. Can't remember when we lost so many middle order wickets for under 150 (maybe India when they toured us last year)No, we really didn't. You don't against good teams on good decks until you win.

Yeah that's the difference here. A lead of 30-40 runs from both team's pov can perhaps decide the fate of this gameThis does remind you of that game, but I don’t know if conditions were as stacked against the sort of high risk hitting which CdG/Jaimeson/Southee deal in in that game as here (Ashwin tried it in India’s innings). Another 8 overs. Do they take it? Do they try the spinners? The quicks might get run into the ground but I trust our tailenders to slog the spinners more easily than the quicks. When's the ****ing second new ball due?
He probably doesn't need to do anything beyond playing it each ball on its merits as long as CdG is out there. The partnership will score quickly enough because Colin gonna Colin. Will be most interesting to see how Williamson reacts to this. Does he continue to blunt the bowling with runs hopefully coming from the other end? Or does he make a conscious effort to push the scoring if he feels NZ can’t really play the waiting game here.
Makes sense as long as CdG does hang around. He probably doesn't need to do anything beyond playing it each ball on its merits as long as CdG is out there. The partnership will score quickly enough because Colin gonna Colin.
CDG vs spin is a walking wicketAnother 8 overs. Do they take it? Do they try the spinners? The quicks might get run into the ground but I trust our tailenders to slog the spinners more easily than the quicks.
