Raza's recent peak really has been phenomenal. Carried zimbabwe into the last t20 WC and got them within 1 run of a potential playoffs birth, and now is dragging them into the ODI world cup.

All of which pales in comparison to his work for Lahore Qalandars

Wow well done Zimbabwe, with this tournament format that is a massive step towards the world cup.

We've been rubbish at ODIs for quite some time so I don't usually get annoyed when we lose to anyone. But the manner of that defeat with senseless shots and schoolboy drops has me feeling very let down by the players. They were not representing the region to the fullest today and that is not acceptable.

I think first they need some batters who can bat long. Only shai Hope is the guy which is consistent. I still thinks these young generation WI players have the potential and are really good. If they replace charles with Alick ,can bring a solid young batsman and can groom a team for the next 2-3 years they will be a team which atleast can give competition to others.

I agree there are a couple of people who have no real business being in the ODI side, namely Charles, Brooks , Chase (though as I say he will never get dropped) and Rovman Powell has a terrible record.

Some small changes will help but if the players attitude is like it was today they can go f themselves and play Oman and the US regularly.

Rovman, Charles, Brooks, Chase are totally waste. They should look to find players who can bat and has some temperament. The wi should really look for young talents which can be groomed. Wasting time on these players make no sense.

Each team in group A will play all the teams of group B and vice-versa.. But they will initially have the points of the matches they won against the qualified nation in group stages.

What is the point of rovman powell inparticular, FYI. With chase I can atleast get that he bowls some handy off-spin, but powell is just mindboggling. He averages 22 @83 across his odi career, and in his past 15 games he's averaging 15. He's playing as a specialist #7 who doesn't bowl and averages 15 with the bat.

Spepherd/Odean smith aren't exactly world beaters, but surely they'de contribute more than 15 runs a game at 7 at a similiar SR to powell and give you a bowling option strong enough to replace chase with a specialist bat.

Agreed. Our obsession with playing people because they could in theory chip in with a few overs if required is painful. We need batsmen. Athanaze would be an obvious start.

Tbf to Sammy he wasn't part of the selection committee for this tour, I hope he can make that change for the India series.

West Indies could not qualify for the main round of the last t20 world cup either, they finished bottom of that group, a group which contained some associates so this struggle is not an anomaly or restricted to ODIs only. Looks like they might get knocked out of this world cup qualifiers as well.
