What’s the deal with Cariah? His FC record suggests he’s basically a batting all-rounder. Also he seems to have been basically a red ball specialist. From a very small sample size he’s had some white ball success with the ball and now he seems to be in the team as a bowler? Was he a red ball specialist who’s just recently been tried as a white ball bowler?

They are trying to make their own Steve Smith.

There was a cricinfo article about him. Basically come from nowhere to be a specialist T20 bowler, one of those "coach/selectors see something in him" and take a punt

always love a run-out that only happened because the keeper didn't take the ball behind the stumps

The most interesting part of the article was how he tried to learn batting and leg spin bowling watching videos of Lara and Warne.

Google the story of Ekalavya. Its what this reminded me of.

Yeah that's what the article was about. It's based on those few games he played. It happens rarely picking a guy with no experience based on a gut call but it's always interesting
It’s not, because before this tour his last T20 was in 2016

(I just read a couple of articles about him, basically he seems to have been picked based on a little bit of recent form in other formats)

Really surprised that wasn't given live + there wasn't much appeal or reaction from the commentators, I thought it was stone dead live
