I thought Marsh was really highly rated and a guy to build the side around. If you guys reckon he's not that good then yeah it makes sense for Smith to replace him.

As strange as it may seem, MMarsh and Smith are more similar as T20 batsman than they are different. Good for a consistent, well-built innings but neither guy is who you'd bank to score, like, a 25-ball fifty.

This is precisely what the Scorchers do with him though. The bloke's career SR is 120 which admittedly is better than Smith but we aren't talking Chris Gayle here.

Sure but I'm saying Marsh is often pigeonholed as this explosive power batsmen when he doesn't actually play like that a lot of the time.

But yeah this game is actually very reminiscent of a lot of Scorchers BBL games. And in games like this, you want Steve Smith in your team.

Trundler not without merit here. From memory Australia's lead up to the last T20 WC was poor and we weren't playing M Marsh at 3. He played there in the cup and bazookered the bowling in our last 3 games. Smith over the last few seasons has been bogged down and Marsh deserved the 3 spot on form.

Now expecting Marsh to stay in form and fit is a bit optimistic but he definitely gets selected and deserves first shot at no.3. Smith gets picked too but it's no howler to bench him here just to give Tim David a chance to disappoint Daemon.
