Was a post on here the other day about how lucky Root is with drops. It felt like a nonsense point, glad to see the data bears that out. Martin Guptil and Hales being on there considering how terrible they are anyway is hilarious.

Yea the declaration was unnecessary. Having a handful of overs at the end of the day is massively overrated.

If no wickets are taken nothing is said, if a wicket or more is taken then apparently it's all because of the awkward few overs.

I think most of the perceived advantage is purely an illusion.

Nah... the pressure is real... all you can do as a batsmen is survive, but a wicket or 2 for the fielding side is huge. No wicket taken does not change anything for the fielding or batting side.
