Bit much to say that in the 4th over of the 2nd test. They were shambolic last week but this is a new game and we start from scratch. Hopefully they improve.

I always think of fine leg as for bad bowling at this level and it is very fine on a Saturday in club cricket because the fatty behind the stumps stops very little. I would go with a third man at this level as there are so many runs down there and often the fine leg doesn't reach the ball as it goes very fine or too square depending how much bat is on it and generally goes to the boundary anyway.

Don't think Gabriel is anywhere near his best but a huge improvement on last weeks dross Roach apart. Huge breakthrough. Can they capitalise?

Good litmus test for these two. Gabriel's bowling nicely, but if they can't find a way to score against him on a fairly even paced pitch, they're not going to like Australia.

Slightly different in a way though as they know Gabriel only has a few more overs left at best and the pressure will be relieved, Aussies if they get anything like a full strength attack won't ease off.

It's more that failures like we've just seen don't bode well. Not that making a score will guarantee success in Australia.

Hameed is the one for future but shouldn't be in Ashes until he scores heavily in next few matches. It is Ashes not a joke.Starc and Hazlewood would bully him in such a way that he will be scarred for rest of his career
