TRJ has really nailed down his spot in the pecking order since he came in, but I still always just viewed him as filling in for Woakes until he was fully fit again. Good to have the depth, but I still remain convinced Woakes is the better bowler.

Yeah it's Wood he's overtaken really. And it's not like being first reserve is a bad thing, it's actually kind of rare to have all four seamers fit. Last summer we played Woakes, Finn and Ball in the same test match

That was the one match of the summer Shiv Chanderpaul missed. The rest of the series I remember as him propping up the Windies batting on his own.
Scary thing is this Windies batting lineup is worse than that one and they've no Chanderpaul at all now.

Anyone reckon that Gabriel might come back into the team, for Cummins probably? Holder causes such a problem, as his bowling isn't very penetrative yet he's often the only one providing control.

Joseph looked well off the boil, I'd bring in Gabriel for him until he gets some form back. He's 20, he'll keep.

Really hope gabriel plays today. For joseph imo. I think their best attack would probably be
Holder
Taylor
Roach
Gabriel

Wow I can't believe that article, that's disgusting.

How do you let Jake Hancock score more than single digits?

I like Woakes but think he is very lucky to return to the side. TRJ has been superb and a man in form can think himself very unlucky to lose his place. That batting line up from 6 though now is ridiculous.

Gower and Holding at the toss. Holding suggests putting the Windies in to bat on the basis that the England bowlers have the wood over them.

'When I've got my foot on someone's throat, I'm not taking it off.'

Gower quietly has flashbacks

Woakes is a better player than TRJ so when fit he plays. Simple.
Not played a massive amount to prove his form though. Not his fault due to stupid schedule I know but he isn't in the Anderson/Broad/Stokes bracket of plays automatically when fit yet.

Gabriel doesn't have any rhythm here, seems to be straining each step to get to the crease. I know he has an unusual run up but that looked weird even for him.
