Reckon you could weaken that side by swapping Blackwood for Ryan Hinds, unless you think Hinds' bowling would be of too much use to make it a definite downgrade

On second thoughts I should leave out Blackwood for the other Hope, who I remember very little of owing to the amount of time he spent at the crease.

I wouldnt go that far. Dillon wasnt that terrible and Taylor on the days he put it together was amazing.

Wow what a lineup. Poor long suffering Windies fans.......... You could add Rawl Lewis or Dave Mohammed as the spinner ahead of Benn also.

Chandrika is the worst opener I have seen play for us and that is saying something. Fidel Edwards could run through any lineup on his day, which was admittedly not often enough, but he had something about him. Personally I think no 2000's pace bowling lineup is complete without Dwight Washington, who would replace him.

Started off very promising, got injured and by the 2007 tour he was bowling medium pace throw downs.

Did also have the best wrist/seam position I've ever seen and was Philanderesque on greentops. So I'd say not the best but certainly useful.

The value of the County Championship isn't necessarily in the standard of play, it's in the volume of cricket, professionalism and infrastructure (the latter two are of particular importance when making comparison to Asian nations).

The Plunket Shield has 8 games? It's simply not enough cricket. Sheffield Shield is low too, but at least Australia has strong levels of cricket being played elsewhere.

Yeah, I was thinking the other day about the impact that the County Championship had on Kane Williamson's development. Prior to 2014 he was improving, but was still merely good as a top order batsman (averaging about 40 in the year and a half leading up to the 2014 county season). Then he played for Yorkshire, and ended up averaging 70+ for the next year and a half in tests. To a certain extent that's down to him naturally coming into his prime, but there's no doubt that just playing such a large volume of cricket helped him take his game to the next level much more quickly.

We're lucky the Plunket Shield is still 8 games. If the player's union and associations hadn't threatened a massive **** fight the NZC would've reduced it to 5 games already.
