Fewer teams makes it s stronger competition and having an actual structure is obviously more beneficial despite the dreadful loss of novelty.what? no, change it back

I was literally using it as a reference to South African batsmen coming through in comparison to Test cricket. That was the entire comparison I made, you can't say "we have lots of talented young players in FC cricket so the batting will be better over the next few years" because FC cricket isn't good enough anywhere outside of Aus and a couple of English FC games a year. I stand fully by that.Come on, fella. You're obviously backtracking from your original statement. When one calls something terrible its obviously in relation to other things of its kind unless explicitly stated. You had no idea about the standard of FC cricket in SA, got schooled and that's that. No shame. Or do you guy around saying chocolate ice cream is terrible but only in relation to lightbulbs without saying the latter half?
Now that they have a provincial only setup QeA Trophy is bound to improve too. Sadly no more of Habib Bank vs Water and Power Development Authority though.
What has the last 3 pages have to do with WI vs Eng?
It only happened because the PM had a personal interest in doing away with the weird system they had before. Don't see Pakistan being competitive in Australis any time soon but a promising pace attack and couple of batsmen may survive England. Of course now that I've said that Abbas is going disappear off the face of the earth after the upcoming tour like every Next Big Thing of Pakistani fast bowling. Haven't had a pacer take 200 wickets since Waqar. Its scary as **** that Pakistan might get their house in order. They throw up quality players for fun and the only reason it was fun was most of them just wasted all of it and ensured the team either middled or sucked. Now you gotta go ruin it and become the next Australia and the next next Windies. Shame on you... ALL OF YOU!!!
*Official* West Indies Tour of England

They've started using the kookaburra to rectify this and decks were much flatter last season.Pakistan's domestic competition also had trundlers pumping up their statistics while not being good enough for Test level, wasn't it? The pitches (or the time of year it was played) were apparently way too seamer-friendly.

That is not actually what I said. I said that SA have some talented youngsters coming through that will improve the SA batting. I`m comparing those abilities that I have observed to what is actually in the SA team. And while I don't dislike P.Malan or van der Dussen (and some of the other selections), they are very good journeyman players but I am exceptionally confident that at least 2 or 3 of the 9 or 10 'youngsters' that are coming through the SA system will surpass anything these journeymen can do. Hence that batting will improve.I was literally using it as a reference to South African batsmen coming through in comparison to Test cricket. Can vouch for this. The difference a 9 or 10 game season has had to our FC structure as opposed to 5 is already making a difference just 3 years in. It was the one good thing that bonehead Cameron did.The value of the County Championship isn't necessarily in the standard of play, it's in the volume of cricket, professionalism and infrastructure (the latter two are of particular importance when making comparison to Asian nations).
The Plunket Shield has 8 games? It's simply not enough cricket. Sheffield Shield is low too, but at least Australia has strong levels of cricket being played elsewhere.
We should split the country up into North, Mid east, Mid West, South East, South West and London + Essex with 3 county teams feeding each region. The Indian Zone stuff is also basically becoming the backyard for anything funky they wanna try. The quality is good because the players happen to be good. I like the RSA set up the best - provincial feeding to franchise feeding to national. If England can come up with some kind of provincial set up on top of the county system, I see that becoming the best FC competition in the world. Likewise if they ever allow the IPL franchises to compete for trophies in all 3 formats. Not sure if NZ can reduce the number of teams any further. Maybe a series of North V South games?
