It seems that the players have been awarded alternative contracts and they're expected to sign those.

Lara, Gayle and Sarwan are the most notable omissions for their tour of Sri Lanka.
squad shown below from cricinfo:

1 Shivnarine Chanderpaul (capt), 2 Denesh Ramdin, 3 Daren Powell, 4 Omari Banks, 5 Kerry Jeremy, 6 Deighton Butler, 7 Sylvester Joseph, 8 Narsingh Deonarine, 9 Dwayne Smith, 10 Tino Best, 11 Jermaine Lawson, 12 Xavier Marshall, 13 Runako Morton, 14 Ryan Ramdass.

damn WIPA! three of WI best players out. it won't be much of a contest now, especially in the ODIs.

If this Team ends up playing the Test series representing West Indies, SL should easily beat them 2/0 and I promise you the Tests will be over pretty quickly !!

On another note , I wonder if SL cricket can ask ICC for compensation from WICB for sending the second stringers and not the best representation from the country !!

How many years does it take the Windies cricket board to sort out its player contracts ?

Hasn't this been an eternal problem for them !! I remember they had contract problems, before a west indies tour to SA or Australia few years ago, when the players Decamped at Heathrow !! Then they had a contract failure before the Champions Trophy in England !!

This is plain and simply ridiculous !!

Agreed.

Marshall, Dw Smith, Chanderpaul, Morton, Deonarine, Joseph, +Ramdin, Powell, Banks, Best, Lawson would be a first XI...I'd think they would beat Bangladesh four times out of ten...

Interesting to see that Chanderpaul is the only established one to side with the WICB in this dispute and the one before the tour of SA.

Well I don't know how patriotic this makes me, but I'm feeling too perturbed about the squad that's going. There are definitely a couple of talented players in there who would otherwise have missed out. I never expected anything less a 2-0 result to Sri Lanka, so this tour can be considered a developmental tour. It's practically an extension of the A tour now. 8 A team players in the squad, which is exactly what I expected.

He did it before the VB Series and it got him the vice-captaincy. He did it before the home stand and it's gotten him a fair stint of captaincy.

I wonder if this is a development squad, then would SL cricket be reprimanded if they put up a development squad as well and played a Test - and gave it Test status ?

Please don't take offence Liam !! :)

I mean would that be any different from Bangladesh playing the current Zimbo and calling it a Test ? :D

If what you say is correct, would he not struggle in commanding the respect of players as Captain when the other senior players return to the Team ?

His tenure as Captain would be fairly limited then , IMO.

I don't think it's any small secret that Sarwan was stripped of the vice-captaincy as punishment for not complying with the Board. They couldn't punish Lara in the same way and get away with it, as the team had just won the CT.

I think Chanderpaul's disposition will ensure that he struggles to gain full respect as a captain, regardless of circumstance.

Well, in all fairness, 11 of the 14 squad members have played international cricket.
