*Official* West Indies in Sri Lanka 2010

Cannot really understand the logic behind the bowling selections.
Yes. Well known fact is that WI lefties handle Herath well. The obvious problem is that when lower middle order arrives, Herath usually demolishes it. Randiv and Mendis would have been a better bet though.

Sanga doesn't seem to have much faith in Herath either.. Dilshan has bowled nearly as much as him.

Anyway, it will be a shame if this match also ends up as a draw due to rain.. just as it was shaping up to be an interesting contest. Worst scheduling. Surely WindieWeathers cannot complain about the timing of this particular rain-break, though.

Nah, they lost two wickets because they were forced to play in the dark by the umpires.

Let's ban Asad Rauf and other ump for this utter bias they have shown.

Standard Bravo. Such a weak no.6
I think it's time to give Big Bravo a break from the side....
:@
he's had poor returns in this series with both bat and ball. And in the last series, against the Saffers, he only averaged 33 with the bat in the Tests. Now, in this series, his average is in single digits. And in both series, he only seems to take one wicket per innings. The West Indies cannot afford to carry both Dwayne and Darren Sammy in the same Test side. That's one too many passengers....

Yeah I would axe Dwayne Bravo from the Test Team at the moment. I'm sick of seeing him get 1 wicket an innings and not too many runs.

One of the first names on the team sheet in ODI and T20 still though.

Bit harsh on Bravo IMO. In 1st test he accounted for Sangakkara and Jayawardane. In the next Samaraweera. He might not have taken much wickets, but he did take quality wickets.

Yeah I've been criticising him for a while now. Really doesn't add enough with either bat or ball to justify his place

Dont know, I still think Bravo is worth persisting with. He's bowling alright, although not brilliantly. He's just got to buckle down a bit with his batting. Maybe deserves a bit more time and faith.

Agreed and he is twice the cricketer Darren Sammy is. But given the predicament Hunte and Hilaire have given us we are going to have to drop Bravo unless he makes runs soon.

It is the reason why Sammy's captaincy will fail in the end. No matter how much the team punches abover their weight, he will not justify his place and you cannot justify someone like him playing ahead of Bravo, or having two medium paced all rounders in the side just because the inferior one is captain.

Sorry if this particular point has already been discussed, but where do you think Dwayne Bravo rates Test cricket among his priorities ? I'm sure it is important to him, but is earning money playing hit and giggle a higher priority than really knuckling down and working on all aspects of his game to improve as a Test cricketer ? My immediate impression is that Test cricket is not his number one focus, and if T20 is the way he wants to go, then that's entirely his choice.

Non-stop raining in Pallekele. Pallekele is usually lot drier than Kandy (2100mm vs 1400mm of annual rainfall), but this is a very rainy year. In last three months Colombo wast submerged at least thrice.

Yes, I accept the issue that Sammy is not really contirbuting much to the team in terms of bat and ball, and he's probably a poor man's Bravo. But he is the captain, a role Bravo probably passed over himself, when he failed to sign a central contract, so Bravo only has himself to blame for that, IMHO.

But now that Bravo's declined to sign a central contract, he needed to contribute to the team, to earn his place in the side. And what has he done with bat and ball this series so far?

Batting ave 8.33
Bowling ave 52

So far, he's just taken three wickets in the series, one wicket per innings, it seems....

But what about the last series, against the Saffers?

Batting ave 33.2
Bowling ave 90

He took just two wickets in the series, less than one per innings.

When Sarwan gets his act together, starts following Gibson's training regime, and gets back into the side, he's coming in for Big Bravo, IMHO.

Shame about the weather as I reckon both the 2nd and 3rd games would have produced results if we had got enough play. It's disappointing that we haven't been able to see the full extent of WI's improvement that was evident in the first game, how they respond to pressure situations and so on. Also harsh on SL that they will lose points for a drawn series.
