Right now he is but Russell will be a much better bowler then him very soon as he has all the attributes needed. He moves the ball more than Bravo and is considerably quicker.

Darren Sammy is very useful in seamer friendly conditions but in places like the Subcontinent he will be a passenger time and time again. Bravo is far superior to Sammy in every respect but the WICB have put us in a position where we have to play him no matter what, therefore Bravo's place is in jeapordy unless he changes his attitude.
But Beamer didn't you hear what Ian Bishop said whilst commentating on the game a few days ago? he said "Sammy is only the captain until next June or July and then the WICB will review the situation"!!.. i know the WICB can be a crazy bunch of fools at times but there's no way they could contrive to keep Sammy in the team if his poor form continues!!.. and i'm sure Gibbo wouldn't stand for that either.

The bottom line is Sammy and Dwayne Bravo cannot play in the same team long term, everyone knows it and personally i hope it's addressed by Wednesday, but i doubt they've got the guts for that 8-) .

Yeah there is not even the slightest chance that will happen in this series. The best thing for all concerned would be a decent performance from Sammy in the last test but I can't see it happening. He is more likely to succeed at ODI level where IMHO he is a very good performer.

So Kirk Edwards is to make his Windies debut in the ODI series. He is one guy that thoroughly deserves this opportunity, he has done extremely well for the A team.

Windies ODI squad:

Darren Sammy (Captain)
Adrian Barath
Carlton Baugh
Sulieman Benn
Darren Bravo
Dwayne Bravo
Shivnarine Chanderpaul
Kirk Edwards
Chris Gayle
Nikita Miller
Keiron Pollard
Ravi Rampaul
Kemar Roach
Andre Russell
Devon Smith

What’s the major difference, Rose? If anything he doesn’t look like he deserves to be any higher than 6.

I agree with everything everyone's been saying about Bravo, but in terms of fielding and fast bowling (excluding Roach) he's a cut above the rest. I honestly think, when batting, Bravo prefers a situation where he's well and truly needed to apply himself. I always seem to remember him getting runs when we struggle, but not cashing in when it's an easier pitch and some of our other boys have made runs before him. I seem to remember him getting runs against England, in England, where Chanders went on an amazing run, and no other WI bat did anything, also remember runs in the last innings last time we were here - think he opened that time - and got a shocker to screw him out of three figures, and also a century against Aus not so long ago, all when others failed... All of the top of my head in recent times, but there's probably been more. Don't know whether he only likes to apply himself when he's needed or whatever, but he definitely needs to sort the problem out... Shouldn't drop him though, despite his wavering commitment to the test team, too good a player in comparison to the rest right now and regardless of talent, on performance, he doesn't deserve to be dropped either, the only reason you would, is to give him a kick up the arse, but always find that risky.

With the potential talent emerging through the West Indies in the next one or two years Senior Bravo's spot should become under immense scrutiny, especially if they find a bowler to match the quality of Roach.

6 needs a batsman who'll play responsibly and guide the lower order. Someone like Nash. Bravo is as likely to make a good score as he is to throw away his wicket. Can't have someone like that batting right before the tail.

Throwing away your wicket is not a good thing regardless of where you're batting I reckon.

WindieWeathers, Migara and others, there has been far too much rubbish in this thread over the past 60 odd posts. A close eye will be kept, and action may still be taken on the abusive and petulant nature of the posting that took place. Take this as a warning, treading a very thin line.

I agree with a lot of the comments about Baugh and Big Bravo....

I've never really rated Baugh's keeping, but with Dwayne's batting deteriorating at six, we need a keeper who can bat, and so far Baugh is off to a good start. Personally, I would like to see Big Bravo dropping to seven, once we find a more consistent batsman for six. But as long as Sammy's in the side, that won't happen.

I also agree with Windie that it's really unbalanced the side having both Dwayne and Sammy in the same Test side. Clearly, a revision needs to be done after the WIndies play Test series at home next spring to India and Pakistan....

Shot to fame as a talented 16 year old for Leeward's and was tipped for big things, even played in the one day series for WI against Bang when the strike took place, he was probably more talked about at one stage than Darren Bravo but he lost a little form early last year and others passed him by, in the last four day competition he was very inconsistent, some poor knocks followed by some very impressive ones,

He used to open the batting but recently he's gone into the middle order which is probably the best thing for his future because everyone knows Barath and Brathwaite will have the opening spots nailed down for years to come unless another superstar emerges, but anyway he got picked to join the High Performance Centre and i have to say ever since then he's been playing very well, he's got more than a few 70s and some 90s for the HPC and West Indies A recently and now he just needs to convert them kind of knocks into tons,

His style is probably similar to Chris Gayle's, he's a big, strong left hand batter who can hit the ball hard and once he gets going he can be hard to stop, if he keeps progressing the way he's been lately then it won't be long before he gets a call up imo, he already averages 37 and i have a feeling the coaches like him, he's only 20 though so he's still got time on his hands.

Another few players i'd be keeping an eye on is Chesney Hughes and Maurice Chambers who both play in county cricket, Chesney's already said he wants to play for WI even though England want him and he already averages 40 in first class cricket so i was shocked that he wasn't in the A-team, i'm guessing they want him to focus on his county cricket right now or something!!,

And although Chambers was born in Jamaica but played for the England u19s he's now eligible to represent WI now if he wants to, had a belting year for Essex last season and him alongside Roach would be great to see, he could certainly play for WI now so i don't see the point in him waiting for an England call up that may never come, especially when England have other young bowlers such as Finn, Broad and Shabaz ahead of him.

Barath dropped for Smith.

Sri Lanka drop another seamer. Dilhara in for Kulasekara.
Sangakkara: "I reckon it is a better wicket than what it looks and it will play very well. Our job is to go in and make early inroads. Kula has a sidestrain, so we had to leave him out.
