Based on a few games?

Babwah should play this season and perhaps next to see how good he really is.

Anyway where does he bat and who might get left out for him?
I never said that he should be picked any time soon. I said that he probably will be picked soon.

Babwah would not get into the team without a severe injury crisis, as they would probably turn to Reifer or someone of the sort first. He bats at 4 or 5 and is a talent for the future.

I just turned on the TV to check on the scores (have some late night homework to attend to :() and it looks like the West Indies have done a great job with the ball. Kept SA to quite a small total, thought the pitch does look to favour the bowlers (finally ;))

Why is Klusener batting at 8? What use is he there facing one or two overs? I'd bat him at 6.

That's positive.

Impressive innings by young Ravi Rampaul. Positives are definitely apparent, even in defeat.

If you couldn't find positives in defeats, you wouldn't have any at all on current form... ;)

Yes, Ravi looked good with bat and ball. It's also encouraging to see Collymore re-establishing himself as the leader of the attack.

The problem, as I see it, is that we are only really playing 4 genuinely international class specialist batsmen. The 4 in question seem to be all too aware of this fact and have looked quite tentative and anxious at the crease as a result.

I'm very disappointed with Hurley's batting and I've now had enough of watching a sub-standard slogger like Powell bat in the top 6. Let's pick a batsman instead.

It's probably about time to start logging the smug comments of England fans as their Caribbean tour looms on the horizon.

36 years of hurt and many more to come....

We will see, we will see...

Harmison to take 20+ in the Series.

PY

International Coach
All English batsmen to average over 50. :D

England to whitewash. :D

Lara won't be able to contain The Harm-edo and will average 10. :D

20+ anti-depressants per game to cope with being clobbered to all parts by Ronnie, Shiv and the Prince? Or is it some kind of exam he's sitting (like the 11+) as he starts to plan for a career outside cricket?

Having now found some highlights of WI in SA, I'm not scared by the bowlers at all.

And if Nel can make a mess of the top order, so can Harmo, Fred, Hoggy, Jimmy and Jonesy (probably both of them, at that).

Whereas your list, which for some reason sounds to me like the cast of the Marx brothers rejects meets Scooby Doo's gang (ignore me, it's been a long day), will leave the Windies batsmen too terrified to fly home from South Africa?!

For whatever else he is, Nel is not a bad bowler. I haven't seen him prior to the WI/SA Test series so i can't pass judgment of previous matches, but during this series he was very effective, and someone who takes Lara's wicket six times in ten attempts is worthy of a place on that fact alone. I would certainly rate him above Harmison, Flintoff and Hoggard, equal with Anderson, and I haven't seen enough of Jones to comment. Pollock and Ntini are also superior to all of them, and Kallis to most of them. If the WI can score 2,621 runs in 4 tests against this attack, I don't imagine England's attack will hold many terrors. Having said that, the WI attack is at least as weak at the moment, but is developing IMO at a faster rate that England's.

Good, now you're getting it. ;)

Come on Neil. Let's be serious for a second. You don't really think that that bowling attack will be taking 20 wickets against test quality batsmen (or the current Windies line-up - there, beat you to it!) on generally unresponsive Caribbean wickets do you? Come on Neil, search your heart - your soul. The truth's down there somewhere. Don't give in to the dark/deluded side.

Don't suppose I can argue with that. Well, I could, but I won't bother. Let's leave it there until the series thread kicks off....
