If I weren't a big fan of Jacques Kallis I'd be really really hating him right now. :P

He was awesome! That said, he was helped by an informative clinic from Vasbert Drakes on bowling crap.

Well bowled Hurley and Gayle though and Collymore was good as usual.

You wonder if Lara remembers that he has a bat at his disposal!

LBW b Nel 2 without playing a shot... for the second consecutive time.

It looked high though...

Last seven wickets fell for 16 runs.

4-38 RL Powell c Boucher b Klusener 12
5-40 DR Smith c Boucher b Klusener 1
6-40 RR Sarwan lbw b Ntini 5
7-43 RO Hurley c Kallis b Klusener 2
8-49 VC Drakes c Gibbs b Ntini 1
9-53 M Dillon c Boucher b Ntini 1

SM Pollock 6-2-9-1
A Nel 6-1-18-2
M Ntini 6-1-15-3
L Klusener 5.2-2-9-3

The Gibbs catch according to Cricinfo: 20.5 Ntini to Drakes, OUT: unbelievable catch from Gibbs at backward point, I'm willing to nominate that as catch of the year right now, flying off the outter half as he drove at it and was taken inches off the ground diving full length with his whole body horizontal..

Ah well...

Tragic Windies collapse to humiliating defeat

If it wasn't so sad it would have been funny - the West Indies collapsed to a humiliating 209-run defeat at the hands of South Africa in the first ODI of five today. In true Shakespearean fashion it was a tragedy. The West Indians looked hopeless at the crease chasing a 265 to win, yet the way with which they manufactured their dismissals was almost comedic.

One VERY happy SA fan!

1/ Laras LBW decision was a very poor one

2/ Kallis and Rudolphs partnership was one of the best I have ever seen in an ODI

3/ The Newlands pitch was very slow

4/ Good to see the Zulu warrior back and in the fold.. He has gained some pace, and changed his action a bit, looks revitalized.

5/ In that SA XI, Peterson was nearly the worst choice for a pinch hitter that could have been chosen, against a different opposition, it could have cost SA the match... Thank god he didnt bowl.. I didnt fancy Collymore and Drakes knocking the runs off with overs to spare...

6/ Gibbs's catch was the second best catch I have ever seen. The Slo Mo's they showed did not do it justice at all.

Rock on!!!!!

It should have been Rudolph.

Why use a pinch hitter? South Africa's strength is depth of batting and late order hitting. What use is Klusener at #9?
probably just for show.

I dont support any of these teams, but klusener at #9 is a worse desician then Mcgrath opening the Australian Batting.

anyway,54? us kiwis are gonna have a tough time:O

although we should have astle and bond, and fleming..pure class those 3.

I don't know whether the South Africans have been sensational or whether the West Indies have just been extremely poor, but yes New Zealand will have to be close to their very best to beat South Africa at the moment going by recent results in South Africa.

Unfortunately, IMO Lara, Sarwan and Chanderpaul add up to more than those three and they still got done over bigtime.
