**Official** West Indies in South Africa Thread

Yes, it was a crap shot. Also, Fidel Edwards is bowling very well and getting a lot of reverse swing. Come very close a couple of times. 128/2 at drinks.

What a toss to lose!
Yup. Could have been a very different story if not for the first hour on Day 1. The West Indies' cause has nonetheless not been helped by generally poor fielding (Merv Dillon!) and a close call by Simon Taufel (Kallis edge on 48).
Another win for SA seems likely, though the batting of Lara/Jacobs/Drakes was encouraging... still waiting for Sarwan to come good though...:(
Other than that, the main interest in this match for me is statistical, particularly the 'battle' between Lara/Ponting and Ntini/Macgill for highest runscorer/wicket-taker in 2003. Also interesting to see if Lara ends this match ahead of Tendulkar on runscoring list (currently 15 runs behind him i think).
Not to mention Kallis' 5000 runs and Drakes' highest Test score of 67 (aided by a comically poor attempted catch from Andre Nel  ).

Gibbs was pretty plumb LB on 60 or 70-odd too.

Edwards is sort of inconsistant. One moment he's bowling well, next moment he is getting hit around.

But he hasnt really played Ten FC matches.

471-3 and climbing.

I only hope Kirsten goes onto a big one, and Kallis gets out soon.
Well, 137 is a pretty big one for Kirsten, unfortunately Kallis is still going... should have been out several times already, but he's not the kind of player you want to give too many chances to. Those three dropped catches in the first hour put paid to any hopes the West Indies harboured of keeping the SA total within reach, which is a shame as Dillon and Edwards were bowling quite well.

557/4... :(

Kirsten's 20th Test ton. Amazing that in 1999 he only had 10 100s...

And I posted it on the 20th page of the thread :D:D:D

Lara is going to be on top form to stop this from being a monster loss now.

For that matter, the whole W.I. team is going to have to play a blinder.

Hope Hall goes for it like he did against England in the summer. He has 20 overs left to do some damage, with Pollock who isn't exactly a delicate batsman.
