Funny how your memory plays tricks on you. It was Twose's debut, but Tendulkar got the 50. Can't believe it was over 10 years ago!
And we still had Crowe in the team... Our last true world class batsman.

Come on Ross Taylor!

There was one test we played in India where it rained on all 5 days. I think Roger Twose managed a 50 or something in the little time they managed to play.
And there was one against India at Carisbrook where it rained for the first 4 days and they played a day/night game with a red ball on the fifth day.

Really? I think I remember them playing the one day game but I don't recall it being under lights...

That 83 has to rank among the top 50s I have watched recently. I remember one particular stroke from Lara. Fleming had BOnd bowling with two gullys, a third man who was sorta square because of the two slips and a deep point who was sorta fine because of the length Bond was bowling. And yet Lara stroked the ball to the boundary. He was threading the finest of needles there. Damn Astle. He stole a Lara special away. It would have been a perfect Sunday treat. :(
You're serious? He played some quality shots, but he also played a lot of chancy shots that he definitely wasn't in total control of. A pleasant innings from the great man, but nowhere near his best.

He looked to have altered his technique drastically for that innings. The old dogs and new tricks thing was proven myth.

Well that's just great, thanks Napier :p

Umpires have an inspection at the outfield and there is no big
improvement. Umpires have a talk with both the captains and they
agree to call off play.
So thats it and New Zealand win the series 2-0. Cheers and bye!

There's something kind of weird about Auckland and Wellington's tests being completed okay, but Napier of all places being rained out. Seriously, what's up with that? Crazy.

Well i thought all of New Zealand was pretty wet this time of year
Ususally it isn't actually to bad this time of year (refer to SL tests played at the start of April 2005). Has been bad for the last week though. Beautiful day here in Auckland today though!

Alwell good 2-0 win under the kiwi belts will do them a world of good, just need another good opener and a strike bowler to make them really good.

Be great if they could be the same person....

Maybe that's how Lou can get back in the team!

Now that's kiwi thinking

There's a big need for specialists in the team and not another average batsmen that bowls military medium.

Saying that - Oram took 6/45 vs Northern Districts this morning.

Now, can he open?
