Haven't watched a ball so excuse my questions - but considering the rain was coming wasn't quick runs what was needed?

Should have promoted pinch hitters they knew it was going to rain today,

Leave Watling & Fulton to bat out a draw if required

quick runs needed =/= slogging WIs only threatening bowler
This, they could of played responsibly, and easily have gotten the runs before the rain came, but they played stupid and got out meaning Taylor had to play very cautiously, resulting in us being 30 odd runs behind with rain stopping play.

Now heavy rain. I think this one might be all over. Clouds seem to be sweeping around from the north-west rather than just coming up from the bright parts of the south.

Taylor's 16 off 61 doesn't look so clever now...

And as I finish that the rain eases. I'll stop making any more forecasts...

Unless the rains stops in the next 15 mins, they'll probably call it a day given it will likely take 40 minutes to prepare the wicket again.

Sounds like that's it. Agree 0-0 keeps the series alive. Correct me if I'm wrong, but has there ever been a Test at University Oval in which it didn't rain at some point?

It's very very dark now so even if the rain stops there's no way the umps would go back out - stupid new laws where the batsmen don't get to choose.

I assume they can play till 6.30 at the latest? Could still change. Though in truth Dunedin does often have split days - lovely in the morning, terrible in the afternoon, or vice versa.

Oh look, it's Captain Hindsight!
I've been driving all day at the other end of the country, otherwise would have posted earlier.
But you know the weather is coming so you contact the cricket clubs up country and say give us a call with updates, its not rocket science.
