Seddon park is generally a very good place to bat. Slow-ish wicket, short boundaries. Reckon Windies will find it much more to their liking.

Southee has averaged 27 since the Australia tour. Both are quality. Hey NZ, make more tracks like this one, not the roads the previous 4 tests were played on. It's in your interest. It's in the interest of test cricket.

As an allrounder though he can.
As a bowler it will be a tough ask to be better than Cairns, but when he first came on the scene he was a bloke known for bowling good hit the deck stuff at 135-140. He's got enough to be a test bowler in his own right.

I am neither agreeing or disagreeing with you Flem. But I will make the point that Corey is succeeding in the role of a 4th seamer because he is a thinking man's bowler and just keeps it tight to restrict the runs and occassionally picks up a wicket. If he was a top 3 bowler he would feel compelled to bowl more wicket taking deliveries which would lead to him being more expensive for one, and we wouldn't know whether he would come off. One of the criticisms of Wagner I have read here is that Neil is trying to take a wicket with every ball. I guess my point is that being a front line bowler is a whole different kettle of fish.

How are people expecting the finished article with Sodhi at 21 years old? Accuracy, particularly for a leg spinner comes with nothing but repetition of the right thing, which comes with experience, maturing etc.
jonbrooks, sounds like you want Vettori to hold up an end and ball absolutely zero wicketaking balls. I agree Ish needs to be more accurate (I still think he'e been thrust into the Test arena AT least a season too early), but that will come with over and overs and overs. TBH If I was Ish, I would be looking to get over to England and possibly nabbing a County contract, for the sheer amount of cricket they play where the turnaround for improving your game is ridiculous but extremely great for development.

Incidentally that reserve has come in and scored 2 fifties and a 39 in the 4 knocks, more runs than anyone except the Gould-assisted Bravo so can hardly have been said to have failed.

No way should Edwards be dropped. He's far from perfect but I've been impressed by his solidity despite the issues his open stance can give him which were highlighted by the commentators.
Sammy admitted in the presser they were bowling too short, so that will be one change to look for in Hamilton. They need to give the ball a chance to swing.
I see why Bravo bats at three now. You wouldn't put Chanderpaul there and Samuels is way too loose. I'd bump Chanders up to four though and Samuels down one so Chanderpaul has the time to play a long innings and Samuels has a bit more protection. Powell looks pretty bad but by his record I guess he's a bit of a Fulton in that he looks terrible when he gets out but he can make those 50+ scores.
