Yeah, he does - which is pretty much what you'd expect from someone who doesn't practice his bowling but has talent with it. He takes me as someone who could be much better if he devoted more time to it, although he obviously doesn't take it very seriously, and it's obviously better for England if he focuses on making his batting as good and as consistent as possible.
I honestly wouldn't mind training him in Test matches to be honest, keep giving him 5-10 overs every innings he'll improve without detracting from his batting practicing.

Wouldn’t really want KP experimenting on his off-spin against the likes of India. Test cricket isn’t the place to be given any current Mickey Mouse bowler the platform to enhance his game. Taken it would come in handy given are test series away to Sri Lanka but if he wants to work on his bowling give him some middle overs against the West Indies in the ODI, give him ten if the game has already been secured.

He used to do quite a bit more bowling didn't he, nearly 200 overs in 1999-00 and nearly 240 in 2001. Does anyone know who his solitary Test victim is by the way?

Kamran Akmal, was caught behind after either tea or a drinks break, playing a rather meaty square cut.

Yeah and I know KP use to bowl a bit, as we know he started his career as an off-spinner but comparably Daren Powell was once a number three batsman…

Six years plus without bowling ‘habitually’ is a long time.

West Indies will need 175 to win of 24 overs. As expected the West Indian 'slow' bowlers were not taken for many whilst University student Brathwaite, only went at over six runs an over.

Given the West Indies batting line-up, I fancy us defending that.

Lions finished with 174-6.

There are plenty of examples are't there, of players who started out with aspirations to be an all-rounder, or at least a regular bowler, but ended up concentrating on batting: Miandad, Atherton, Thorpe, Gatting are a few who come to mind. Sometimes it was injuries, sometimes the yips.

:-O The Windies could win here - 69 wanted off 11 overs. Seems like they've done OK against an attack far stronger (on paper) than their own.

Indeed. Nasser Hussain was supposed to be our answer to Warne aged 15.

I read that he didn't actually start as a bowler per se just he used to be picked because he could bowl and bat. So he was always a batsmen who got sick of being picked of a bowler.

I can't remember where I read that though...

He does get a lot of turn though at times doesn't he, if he could become more accurate he'd be a good bowler to have. I do remember him saying not that long ago that he wants to become a proper all rounder.

Said paper is English, no?

Every member of the Lions attack had international experience - some of the opposition had barely played any first-class cricket. So quite a big difference in pedigree, but a morale-boosting win for the Windies all the same.

Was really shocking to see Ramdin hoofing it about today, I was pretty much thinking "He's only little", and therefore not much of a hitter. Good innings anyway.

But I had absolutely no idea who half the West Indian team were, they really have called up some complete randoms.

Viv's son does play - but I don't think Austin is any relation.

Edit: it was Mali today, my mistake. No sign of Austin as yet.
