Good to see the Aussies' latest dick-measuring tactic being the temperature, following on from ground sizes.

Great effort by the windies bats from all account. Hope to catch some play this weekend.
Was one of your fellas who spoke about "the heat" tbf.

Wow. Just checked the score after a couple of hours and I expected it to be England at 80 for 1 or so. This Windies side certainly has a lot of fight. You have to wonder what would have happened with Gayle, Sarwan, Edwards and perhaps Narine.

Yeah because it's hot for our guys. Who gives a **** whether it wouldn't be considered hot in your country? It'd be like me swinging my dick over the lack of poisonous spiders and unhabitable land in my country.

Speaking of which...

Turned off when Powell got out, just couldn't watch any longer as it was a farce to be honest, but i'm extremely proud of the guys today, the fight they've shown of late has been very pleasing to see, also i must give credit where credit is due, Sammy stuck around and he's saved the team from embarrassment today along with Samuals, so well done for finally playing a captains knock Darren, perform with the ball now and people might start accepting you more,

Hoping we get above 350 and if we do then i think England will feel the heat (excuse the pun), Kemar is in the form of his life, Rampy has a habit of taking early wickets and if there's any kind of spin there Shilly will have fun, so tomorrow should be very interesting indeed,

It's also back to back 300s we've made against England now which is also encouraging, one has to believe that if we get Gayle and Sars back then we can only improve even more from here.

Making no allowances for the batsmen that each bowlers were bowling too and reading purely by numbers.
Cool.
Same batsmen, same team so stop revising history

Swann was ordinary in the UAE and EVERYBODY knew it at the time

If history is anything to go by, Swann will take the wickets of 10 & 11 tomorrow to finish up with 3/70

Then he will take out a couple more tailenders in the last test and in 3 months time, some people will say that he averaged 28 vs the Windies and proclaim "gee, didnt he bowl well in that series"

Guy is average

Alternatively, he could hold an end up away to a side we hadn't beaten away for 24 years, allowing the seamers to wreak havoc, and then we could all be reminded a couple of years later how he averaged 40 in that series.

True. All things are relative.

Hoping for 25 tomorrow and the obligatory handkerchiefs on heads.
25 here would be cooler. Been absolutely roasting the last few days.

For some reason Trent Bridge's pavilion reminds me of Auschwitz.

J. Trott v D. Sammy.

Let us never insult the IPL again
The IPL was my first thought when Trott started bowling to Sammy

The pitch last year had a lot more pace+bounce than this one tbh.
The sky commentators think the pitch will get quicker as the test goes on. I assume the one last year did as well but I may be wrong.

WTF are you talking about?

Monty took more wickets despite playing in one less test

What's more, he did it at a lower average and was given far more responsibility

At best, Swann was the 4th best spinner on show in that series

Facts dont lie
Hahaha.

We'll just conveniently ignore the fact that Panesar bowled close to 30 more overs than Swann over the course of the series.

The way people speak about Swann's performance in the UAE you'd think he was taking his wickets at 100 a piece whilst going at 6 an over.

If the Pakistani's had a couple more left handers in the middle order I suspect Swann would have got more wickets than Panesar.

It got a little bit up-and-down last year. The fourth innings at TB is notoriously difficult for batsmen in general, and you'd think with the weather it'll break up faster than usual. England could find themselves in some trouble here if the Windies get many more tomorrow morning.

It's amazing the differential that Swann has between right handers and left handers. When he's bowling to a left hander, hes an all time great spinner, when he's bowling to a right hander hes just a standard mediocreish spinner. The likes of Chanderpaul and Bravo can feel a little hard done by that they are facing an amazing bowler, while Samuels and Sammy get to face an average bowler.

Teams who play England should seriously start considering that when picking their teams if its a close run thing. South Africa who are coming next, could think about playing a right hander that has been doing well domestically instead of Rudolph, who hasn't exactly nailed down his place.

The South Africa England series is interesting, because it's a team with a greater number of star players (SA) versus a team with better depth in batting with a long tail, and a better spinner in Swann. As 3 of SA gun players, Kallis, AB and Amla are right handed I think SA will win the series, if they had more lefties I would back England.

Simple question

Who was the 4th best spinner on show in the UAE?

Interesting point re Swann. Pretty well made I think.

As for the Eng-SA series, I hope the visitors win easily, obvs.
