(in response to who should be in the slips today)

Strauss obv.

Cook has fielded at gully before now - I remember him taking an absolute blinder in NZ a few years ago.

Maybe Bairstow.

Probably KP somewhere in the mix.
Not often able to say I told you so, but I feel I should point out the absence of Ian Bell in my list above.

I'd suspect he came into international cricket in very good form, and cashed in against some not so great attacks with a few flat pitches here and there. He's definitely horrendously out of form though, and there's no way that this series should be the norm for his test career. I'd say he slightly over performed when he came into test cricket, and he's not terribly under performing. I guess we'll have to wait a little longer to really draw conclusive conclusions on how good he is though.
I haven't seen much of Edwards apart from his (limited) time at the crease in this series, so I don't know whether it's attributable to form or is a legitimate technical deficiency, but his footwork has been utterly appalling.

Always good to see a bloke who's had injury problems come back and do well. Well done Tino Best.

I mean Onions.

Only been watching for about fifteen minutes but like what I see about Fudadin. Seems composed.

Fudadin looks a class above most of the rest of the touring bats on what I have seen so far. Done well on debut in tricky conditions.

Finn and Onions would get into any other test side in the world, says Botham.

Suck my patooties you stupid old gimp.

Ha, we have great depth but to say they would both get in the South African side is a bit ridiculous. Be in the mix for Australia depending on who was fit though.

Come on, most commentators are dickheads. You should know having to put up with Nicholas and Healy every year.
Indeed. Though irony plainly can't pass Customs at Heathrow if Botham is calling out commentators from other countries for being parochial.
