Piffle. It's a non-contact sport. You escalate it to the physical, you pay the consequences. Try going to court after you've hit someone and say "Aw, but he was provoking me" and see how long it takes before you're moving on to the sentencing process.EDIT: Never mind, adding fuel to fire...
Burgey, you are a great poster. so don wanna end up in namecalling, but unless you know for sure what Watson would have told Gambhir, you have no idea on how justified or understandable his reaction was...
Yeah AWTA. Doesn't matter what Watson said at all, unless he course of he said "elbow me please" which I really do doubt.Piffle. It's a non-contact sport. So the Aussies are no different to any other team.I dont think anyone was claiming them to be different.Aussie team as a whole are a pack of whingers who love to dish it out but get all sooky and/or aggro whenever anyone says anything back. Or words to that effect.
They did with all the talk about what happens on the pitch stays there. So the Aussies are no different to any other team.I dont think anyone was claiming them to be different.
But this is what happened in the third test vs WI. Results different though.Piffle. It's a non-contact sport. You escalate it to the physical, you pay the consequences. Just like every other team, so nothing different here either. They did with all the talk about what happens on the pitch stays there.
Watson says: Ummmm! Gayle, I'm telling on you!
To which Gayle replied
Gayle was then seen wiggling his fingers in Watson's direction with his thumb on his nose and his tongue sticking out.
Bollocks. Benn made it physical. When Johnson stepped between he and Haddin he copped a stray forearm. Benn got suspended. How's it different to what Gambhir did? Both made the situation a physical one by their actions. But this is what happened in the third test vs WI. Results different though.
It's simple....You lost me there, Joel.
If you wish to look at it that way go on continue but the fact remains that the only deliberate physical contact was made by Johnson.Bollocks. Benn made it physical. Seriously loving Gayle keeping this on the boil tbh. WAG.
Yeah, tongue-in-cheek. But Aussies are being disrespectful when they make similar comments. Double-standard much.Gayle keeps Watson row boiling
''He said I bait him,'' Gayle said in Perth yesterday. ''You asked me the question earlier if I catch fish, maybe I might use him as a bait to catch a fish. He's so easy to get wound up over silly things. Yeah, he's soft. He only looks big and strong but he's soft.''
What's up with Haddin? Didn't he expect Gayle to reply to Watson's comments? And it seems that both Watson and Haddin need a sense-of-humour transplant....
They clearly can't tell when Gayle is making comments tongue-in-cheek. Clearly, Gayle has been asked a question by the journalist, and he gave a humorous answer. Did Haddin expect Gayle to say no comment?
Who's complaining? The only person complaining is Haddin?Yeah, tongue-in-cheek. But Aussies are being disrespectful when they make similar comments. Double-standard much.
I have no issue if he wants to call Watson on being a tool, but don't try and spin it that he's 'just kidding' or whatever.
Not talking solely about this specific instance, but rather the disparity between how a comment labelling a team as 'whingers' who are 'soft' would be received if it were made by say, Ricky Ponting, as opposed to Chris Gayle. Would Ricky, or an apologist on his behalf, saying that such comments were 'tongue in cheek' hold any water.Who's complaining? The only person complaining is Haddin?
Some of them can dish it out, but when it's dished out back at them, they can't take it....
Yeh, can only imagine the reaction had Ponting said that in relation to many teams the Aussie schooled for so many years who had a bitch after the series about biased umpiring, ugly Aussies, etc.Not talking solely about this specific instance, but rather the disparity between how a comment labelling a team as 'whingers' who are 'soft' would be received if it were made by say, Ricky Ponting, as opposed to Chris Gayle. As I said, I've no problem with Gayle wanting to debate the issue through the media - I think Watson was clearly the guy who overreacted on the field and made the issue into a drama. But don't insult us all by saying that he's just kidding, and then think he can still have the reputation of someone who never gets down and dirty in the sledging stakes - it pissed him off so he's publicly calling Watson et al on it.
Using the Benn incident to back this claim is nothing short of ludicrous. It's simple....
Garner's saying there's one law for the Medes, and another for the Persians.
“The match referee is the man in charge and he will do whatever he feels is best. I go back to Animal Farm days, George Orwell, they say all animals are equal and later on in the same book they say some animals are more equal than others. Maybe that applies in some cases,” Garner said.'
The cloud of smug from Garner is stifling. Seriously pretty disappointed in his comments. They don't help at all. This whole 'the man is trying to keep us down' is ****ing pathetic. Invoking Orwell is lame. It's simple....
