Yay! :) I'd wait till I see a picture of Brian Lara's feet actually touching Australian soil in 2005 before I'm convinced that he will play, though.
He's already touched Australian soil. :p

Scored 9 against Victoria on Sunday.

I reckon Sarwan will have a pretty good tour. He'll repeat his efforts last time we played them in the West Indies in 2003

West Indies Squad:

Shiv Chanderpaul (capt), Tino Best, Dwayne Bravo, Corey Collymore, Fidel Edwards, Chris Gayle, Wavell Hinds, Brian Lara, Jermaine Lawson, Daren Powell, Denesh Ramdin, Marlon Samuels, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Devon Smith, Dwayne Smith

Collins and Banks are very unlucky IMO. Collins troubled the Australians in the VB series not that long ago, and if Banks isnt a better bowler AND a better batsman than Dwayne Smith I'll eat my hat. Also, going into a whole tour with NO spinner isnt very wise. Fair enough omitting them from the final XI, but to not carry one at all is downright silly.

Lara needs to bat at 3, Sarwan doesn't have the authority in his game to command that position.

Collins is injured. I'd actually say Dwayne Smith is a better bowler than Banks. Banks is a better batsman though.

i agree that not picking banks on the tour is a stupid idea but i dont think he's a better batsman

Australia:

Langer
Hayden
Ponting
Katich
Clarke
Hodge or Watson - not sure who i rather play
Gilchrist
Warne
Lee

West Indies

Lara
Chanderpaul
Hinds
Bravo
Ramdin
Powell
Edwards
Collymore

Dwayne Smith is perhaps the easiest specialist batsman to dismiss in world cricket right now. The South Africans showed this wonderfully well. Full and angling in to the stumps, and Smith'll get himself out in the same way every time. He has loads of talent though.

Omari Banks has much tighter technique and is far more sensible. Hence, he's a better batsman in my mind.

If you play MacGill you have to play Watson IMO

Whatever it takes!!!
There is no need to take a guy along juz because he is a spinner. If they think that a certain bowler is not good enough to warrant a look in for a spot in the first XI, they should not take him along just because he happens to bowl spin.

Indeed, but to have no spinners anywhere near you first choice XI is a mistake in itself.

And Dwayne Smith is a superior option? If they want an allrounder who's more worthy of playing international cricket than Omari Banks, pick Ian Bradshaw. Dwayne Smith?! Boycott's mom's publicist could knock him over.

lol, I wasn't responding to particular selections, juz mentioning in general that if a certain guy is not worthy of a look in in the playing eleven, then there is no need to select him juz because he is a spinner. If you guys (who know more about WI cricket than I do) tell me that Banks is a better batter than Smith, then yes, he should have been selected.

nahh i wont say you HAVE to pick Watson if stew plays but playing watson gives the attack a more flexible look, but i'll wait and see what the selectors do.
